No I wish we could. My type of shop is exempt from the mask wearing rule (dunno why considering we work in small closed rooms). So we don't have a leg to stand on...

Just realised it was the second RSD drop yesterday. I even went in Rough Trade in the afternoon and didn't realise. It certainly wasn't particularly busy.

There's this section of the rules "You should also wear a face covering in indoor places not listed here where social distancing may be difficult and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet." which would cover you as you're clearly not going to be six feet away from them. Unfortunately it uses the word "should" which a lot of pedantic idiots are taking as "if you feel like it".
 
The 'rules' are completely ambiguous and ridiculously open to interpretation in places. That's a bone of contention for me at work.

That is outrageous! Sorry to hear that you have to work in these conditions Miss Star.
 
Masks are now mandatory EVERYWHERE here and I'm glad it's the case. Home is the only place I don't have a mask on.

This is the trouble, nothing is clear. And then they wonder why we're doing so rubbish on the covid front.

On the other side my next person had acute asthma but still wore a mask saying although it was difficult, she could manage 20mins in it. Bless her.

To me it's all about what kind of person you are. People who care about others will happily do this tiny thing on the offchance it will protect somebody else, selfish people are just looking for every opportunity to get out of doing it. When I see "those" people in the supermarket who aren't wearing masks and seem highly unlikely to have a hidden disability (other than a penchant for tanning beds, 'roids and staffies) I want to pull my mask down and cough as I walk past them because wearing a mask with asthma gives me proper "juicy-sounding" coughs.

I've felt all along that the Government have been deliberately vague with many of the rules, leaving them open to interpretation to some degree, because they then have a scapegoat for the second wave of "But you didn't do what we said you should!, How can this be our fault?". Because of that it's impossible to call people out, as soon as you do they start trumpeting loudly about "my human rights". What should have happened is that mask wearing should have been declared mandatory unless you had dispensation from a GP. I don't think it'd be difficult for each surgery to highlight all the asthma patients and other hidden diseases and fire out a letter to them. Building sites have the "no hard-hat, no boots, no entry" rule so why can't shops?
 
The surgeries can do that easily enough. They already did it at least once with regard to telling people which shielding group they are/were in.

And the NHS/Government notified supermarkets too so some kind of list must already be in existence.

I also had access to priority slots on Asda and they also reappeared on my account yesterday (thankfully, because Tesco had removed priority slots so it was 17 days before I could get a delivery).
