It was so refreshing to be actually excited to watch the next episode.I’m gonna watch it as broadcast - The Circle was so much better because of us all watching it together

That's pretty decent for an overnight figure. Plus I imagine the demographic it appeals to is more likely to be one which is likely to watch on catch up. Plus word of mouth (here at least) seems very positive.Started with 2.9 million viewers last night

This will make discussions easier going forward

It depends what you're comparing it with, I guess. EastEnders usually gets 2m -2.5m in the overnights. 2.9m is in line with what Top Gear and The Larkins had this week. And as I said above, I think this sort of show (and the positive word of mouth) will hopefully see this do well on catch up.Oh that is quite poor.![]()

EastEnders is meant to be a primetime mass audience. This is a new format for the BBC that I don't believe was ever expected to be a huge success immediately - it's not like they put it on primetime Saturday. In some ways I could see it fitting more on BBC3 rather than 1.
I suspect if it plays well to a certain demographic the BBC will stick with it, even if the total figures aren't massive. I've seen rumours on twitter that the BBC have already approved a second series, but not from a confirmed source.
