Yeah I've run out of benefits of doubt to give him now. He's a fucking cunt, and he's not even a clever one, the video of him praising immigrants just makes him look stupid in context.
 
I think I'll email my MP to tell her they never have my vote again. Admittedly I didn't vote for them last year, but I had in every general election of my life until then.

It's not going to achieve anything in any practical sense, but may make me feel as if I've made my voice heard.
 
I'm banking on bumping into my MP at Portsmouth Pride and giving him WHAT FOR. Although political parties have all been banned (a couple of days after my post), he'll be there in some capacity, I'm sure.

But considering he's known as "Vanilla Steve" amongst his peers, it won't do a BEAN of good.
 
Writing to your MP does help, I think. There’s already a lot of back bench anxiety over the benefits reform stuff.

It’s so disheartening. I’m still trying to see the green shoots where I can. There is a case for compassionate immigration reform, but the rhetoric they’re using is just so far beyond the pale and utterly wrongheaded. They could bring immigration down to net zero and they still wouldn’t pull votes from Reform.

I actually quit my membership when they first started throwing trans people under the bus, but when I get back to the UK I think I’m just going to join the Greens.
 
Yeah I've been a Green member since the election, inspired by Ron Jr, and I'm happy that I'm supporting a PROPER LEFT party.

As abhorren and despicable as Labours actions have been in the last few months(winter fuel, throwing trans people under the bus, immigration, i could go on) I could understand the logic in pursuing them in a stragetic sense if it actually GOT them votes....but they are appealing to people who will never vote them and losing shed loads of votes from people who will by basic become the nasty party.

You only have to have a vague passing understanding of politics to see why this is an extremely fucking stupid strategy that at this rate is going to end up putting them back in opposition in 4 years...yet this is their FUCKING JOB, and they either a. Don't seem to be able to see that or b. Don't care and really believe he stuff they are peddling...in both cases what's the fucking point in voting for them?

I despair.
 
Labour will never be cruel enough for Reform when it comes to immigration. The mistake is assuming it's a sensible debate when a huge number of Reform's members want to see people literally dragged from their homes in dawn raids and put on a plane to wherever their great-grandparents came from with their home and job immediately handed to a white person. This is not an exaggeration, I've seen it on Reddit, the "send 'em back" rhetoric is well and truly in swing. Starmer's attempts to appease the worst people has sucked out what little of his credibility remained and spat it into a gutter. He is a liar, a coward and an appeaser.

The question is where the left votes goes after Labour because it is currently disparate. Which was, of course, the plan. Just keep dividing the left until no party can even hope to rally enough voters.
 
Someone needs to be a sacrificial lamb and mount a leadership challenge that unsettles things and lets the real contenders know it's doable.

So the LibDem account is affiliated with the party and the Labour one is not. So apples and pears.
 
It felt like all the signs were there with Starmer right from the start - he felt like a promising Labour leader, but then he kept saying little things that seemed to contradict why we voted Labour in the first place, and flip-flopping at will. All the while, we all (including me) looked for excuses and justifications for it. "Oh he's got to say that, in order to achieve xyz," "he's just playing the long game to get people on board," etc etc. Well here we are now, as he continues to double down on the most toxic Reform-esque rhetoric, changing with the wind to suit whatever the tabloid front pages suggests the public wants, whilst never able to attract the kind of voters some of these policies and statements are aimed at, and completely trashing Labour and its voters in the process. I know this has all been said, but it's so outstandingly bad and depressing.

Imagine after a resounding victory to oust the demons from the past 14 years that we all wanted, you then dismantle everything you stand for and just...become those demons yourself? How about just being Labour and the party we voted for instead of basing so much on poisonous headlines? But it's too late now, isn't it?
 
Reform have truly won because they’re 4 years from getting elected, and might as well be running the country now anyway the way they’re controlling the narrative and Labour is so desperate to ape them.

I held my nose when he came for benefits (they had to, I thought), I even did when he turned on transwomen (in my head: he's a law man, he follows the law)... but this strangers speech is my absolute limit, I can't forgive this.

Chasing the Reform vote is a fucking ludicrous choice, because he'll never win. Reform are barely about policies for their new voters, it's about voting for something different, it's about getting Farage into No.10, because for some reason it has to happen.

I note Angela Rayner sat stoic when the front bench were in tears of laughter yesterday, when he fired back at an MP criticising his cruel policies.

The Green vote, fuck it, even Liberal Democrat vote must be pushed as a genuine alternative to these shit bags. I have a vote in the upcoming Green leadership election, which it appears Zack Polanski has all the traction. He seems media friendly and speaks to the left. We'll see.

I was happy to give him time to see economic and NHS improvement, but the stance on trans rights and now immigration is beyond the pale. Even if he somehow performs miracles on the economy and the NHS, the trans rights and immigration stances are an affront to my core principles. Supporting him/Labour at all now feels like compromising myself at the most fundamental level.

Exactly how I feel, any good will from "at least we got the Tories out" is now gone and his attacks on immigration and trans people are just beyond abhorrent. Blue Tory to the core.
 
He just follows the noise. He has absolutely no belief in anthing, other than his own self belief that he deserves to be a ten year Prime Minister. He's just a bureaucratic Boris Johnson, with none of the absurd phrasing, personal life or image.

somebody high profile within the Labour ranks needs to sacrifice themselves to make a big scene about this. there are still four years left for Labour to do some GOOD. but it won't happen with this twit and his team of idiots going full Red Tory cosplay at any given opportunity. we need a rebellion.
 
The only flip side to all of this is that 2029 won't feel quite so HORRIBLE when Farage is elected PM because it won't present ANY CHANGE whatsoever
