The UK: The Keir Starmer years - RESIGNED

that hashtag is actually unreal. like how did they even intend that to sound...

The two-tier thing is ludicrous. How on earth did any of them think it was a sellable idea? The original set of cuts were cruel and punitive, but now they've just made it transparently unfair and arbitrary on top!

Useless, useless bastard. Get these centre-right twerps out. Get them gone by the end of the year and we can make some actual progress. Imagine having a majority like that and still creating such an absolute shitshow.

She’s been an unmitigated disaster, but I’m not sure how firing her helps at this stage. It just creates more uncertainty, and who’s going to be in line to replace her?

Firing her will at least give them the space to completely ditch the fiscal rules and actually take a very different economic strategy.

Get Milliband in to tax wealth please

Well you might have start paying attention to the Green Party come 2029.

I can't see what this achieves at all TBH. I'd love to see more growth from the Green party to challenge Labour from the left, and in current form they're really not exploiting that opportunity the way they could be, but having a random ragtag of cranks watering down the left wing votes even further doesn't feel like anything helpful.

Hopefully it goes the way of CHANGE UK.

I mean... there is no party sufficiently representing the left and people seem unmotivated to actually vote Green, so if you ask "what's the point?" maybe the point is to offer a huge number of the electorate who identify as left an alternative they might like to vote for

I think Greens will gather traction under Zack and I’m proud to be a member, if Reform can swing the Tories (and Labour) right then a strong left then hopefully support for some “ragtag cranks” can sway things back

Wonder if the useless twat will publicly condemn this?

But, like, why not just join the Greens - who I believe share every conviction she listed there - rather than dilute the left vote even further?

Feels like a rather foolhardy vanity project to me, but we’ll see.

Sultana, 31, who represents Coventry South, posted a statement on Thursday evening describing Westminster as “broken” and claiming the two main parties offer “nothing but managed decline and broken promises”.

She urged supporters to “join us” in creating what she presented as a new party.

Her declaration took some in the alliance by surprise and has exposed divisions over strategy. While Corbyn has long hinted at plans to establish a more organised vehicle for leftwing and pro-Palestinian campaigning, he has so far avoided confirming any formal structure or leadership arrangements.

Corbyn, 76, has not committed to the project becoming a party, or endorsed any specific leadership roles. The Guardian understands he was frustrated by Sultana’s unilateral announcement, which some regard as premature and potentially counterproductive.

So far, he has confined his public comments to cautious remarks about the group “coming together” and “offering an alternative”, without outlining further details.

Off to a great start then…

I did think given Corbyn's noncommittal comments yesterday that Sultana's announcement seemed a bit leaky or premature! I would have thought a joint statement alongside a proper hard launch, name reveal, etc. would have been a much stronger showcase of confidence and unity... It's giving Change UK before they've even started!

I'm somewhat sceptical about the alliance of one-issue independent MPs as a strong foundation for a left wing party, but hopefully it forces Labour to actually put up a fight for votes from people with left wing views.
