Can the Tories pull themselves back together? Obviously Badenoch has to go and we can all be relieved that she got her shot when the party were at their most irrelevant but surely the Conservative Party isn't just going to lie down and die?

I'm sure he's only being quiet for now because he's either waiting for Badenoch's resignation or for something to go tits up for Farage. Either way, when he finally wakes up he'll go to whichever party will give him more headlines. His only loyalty is to himself after all!
 
From what I can gather they were arrested because of the building more than anything, but tbh I think getting arrested is a smart move for them.
 
He now wants to introdcue ID cards, a policy universally hated on the right and left.

It's quite funny to think that Big Newspaper may have been sitting on an incredibly BORING scandal about donkey field tax for YEARS, just waiting for the right moment.

I bet Andy Burnham and Wes Streeting are making some VERY PANICKED PHONE CALLS to their accountants.

My least favourite thing about this country is when almost everyone bends over backwards to not call racists racist.

Of course a good chunk of reform voters are racist! Why pretend otherwise?
 
Well, the classic was Will Self and Mark Francois - Self is making the point that not everyone who voted for Brexit is racist but everyone who is racist voted for Brexit and Francois accuses him of...calling everyone who voted for Brexit racist. They're an absolute shower.

Do people really think anything said at this conference will actually matter? Farage has turned us into a one-policy country, like the US. Anyone I know who likes/is voting for Farage will only talk about immigration. Nothing else matters anymore.
 
There was never much evidence to suggest Labour was losing significant support to Reform, who are actually mopping up Conservatives. That’s what made their policy of trying to look and sound as much as possible like Reform-lite so baffling.

You’re right, they can’t win the immigration debate, so doing damage limitation on left-leaning voters and y’know, actually trying to make life a bit better for people, feels like a step in the right direction at least.

I think that penny has finally dropped (nothing to do with the rise and rise of ZP of course)

But yeah, the Reform friends I inevitably end up arguing with on Facebook are just focused on the one thing (and denying any evidence you put in front of them to show Farage played a part in the increasing boat numbes)

That and the 'all politicians are the same' line (Like voting for a LTD will change that)
 
I suppose the hope is that the online mob focused purely on one issue does not account for everyone, and that there really are a number of potential voters who don't agree with a lot of what Reform stand for but are there on account of what they perceive as being a lack of choice.

I think it can be easy to get bogged down in online arguments that go nowhere, when there were a lot of indications than in the US, for example, a lot of people voted for Trump in spite of Trump himself, rather than because they bought into all the really racist stuff.

So yes, I do think it's important for Labour to actually take a stance and reestablish its identity, and hopefully get a clear story going, and this is a start. I'm just not convinced that it will last long after this conference either.

the full video is actually TORTURE. I know he's a provocateur with some good ideas but somebody really needs to give him a slap and tell him not to shout over people before they can get half a sentence out. he's too in love with the sound of his own voice
