Welll, if the markets are going batshit every day she continues to stay in the role, I imagine they'd rather take their chances on another unelected PM that also stands a chance of doing a bit better with the public too. Rishi Sunak, incidentally, is happy to not say anything at all, given he said everything he needed to say right at the end of the leadership contest and probably has a majority of MPs who'd support him after essentially being proven completely right.

The entire point of figures like the ones in that YouGov poll is that they've spent a week in self-inflicted financial turmoil either off grid or yelling at the public and the markets that they don't understand when they do, and they've now just reached the point where they're a joke to them. They're not going to take much they say seriously from this point, and they're not disposed to think kindly of them or give them a quick second chance in this incarnation anyway. (Some might if/as/when a new leader comes, but that'll also likely be with economic conditions shit enough that most will probably think the country could do with a proper change at this point regardless anyway.)
