I know this shift to Labour at Tory's expense is wonderful etc, but let's never forget the large chunk of voters who are causing the shift - those fairweather voters who stuck with the Tories to deliver Brexit and are happy to bin them at the first sign of disaster

Just a bit of fun but on UNS that gives Labour a 182 seat majority. Tories down to 142 (they got 166 in 1997!)

JRM and Boris Johnson both out whilst Rishi Sunak ends up as one of the last senior Tories left standing which may be some foreshadowing...

What did you use get those numbers? I got Labour with a 42 seat majority.

Ran them through Electoral Calculus (with the figures for the other parties). Think it is still based on 2019 boundaries though.

Not that a 42 seat majority wouldn't be a result I'd happily accept, but that's fucked up

I'm not sure those poll numbers really explain the situation in Scotland.

4% of the total UK electorate voting SNP equates to at least 45% of the total vote in Scotland. Based on previous elections that means winning around 50 of the 59 Scottish seats. Labour are still way behind up here and have struggled to regain centre-left voters (and factor in the independence/unionism debate). They'll struggle to win the sort of majorities they did between 1997-2005 without regaining ground in Scotland.

...which they won't because they entered into multiple coalitions with the Tories in Scottish councils. No-one trusts them in Scotland; they have a stubborn vote from Yoons who can't bear to vote Tory and habit voters ("I've always voted Labour and my father voted Labour and his father voted Labour etc etc". That's their lot.

They're not interested in the public. This is about emptying the public purse into private pockets and nothing else.

I just bought something on eBay in US dollars, and the exchange rate I was quoted was £1 = $1.014!

Our currency is plummeting too. When the Federal reserve keeps raising the interest rate, the dollar gets stronger compared to smaller currencies.

(now your currency isn’t considered small, but I guess a lot of other factors are at play now)

What I’m saying is that the situation is pretty dire everywhere right now, but of course at times like this you need better politicians than someone like Liz Truss.
 
Yeah that’s it, the news is reporting record lows against the dollar, not every currency. Of course this is partly due to the recent tomfoolery, but the US also performing better. A month ago there were plenty of stories about the Yen having historic lows against the dollar (and still doing badly), and sounds like other currencies are suffering too (like Sweden)

It’s alright if you’re in America (well not really because you’re in America)

The trouble is a lot of international markets use USD as their currency, so stuff will get more expensive even if it doesn’t involve the US directly
 
The situation is dire but it's what the gammons and thickos needed - a cold slap in the face from Brexit and a decade + of the Tories.

All we need now is for the Ghost of Princess Diana to appear and proclaim the Transgender Islamic Republic of Wokeistan on the territory formerly made up of the UK and things will finally be back on track.
 
What's fascinating watching the exodus from Russia is how few people are willing to fight for their government and social model. I wonder what the same phenomenon would engender in the UK. How could you fight for a government that has eroded your quality of life, your rights, your social protections, all to enrich an extremely privileged few? The social contract is broken.
 
I’m weirdly pleased, in a strange perverse way, that Suella has got a promotion and people can see what a nutbag she really is. I’ve long been a fan.
