Aside: I genuinely can't tell whether one-time Tory villain Sayeeda Warsi has made a dramatic evolution for the better over the past decade, or whether the current crop are so cartoonishly morally bankrupt that she just looks much more reasonable by comparison.

I think it was Pippa Crerar who was suggesting that the Tories walked right into Labour's trap with their three-line whip on the fracking bill. There are dozens of Tory MPs opposed to fracking and it's only dividing the party further. :disco:
 
Aren't many opposed because their appointment as an MP depends on it (their consitituents have told them no way). Tories putting them in an impossible situation. What a choice for a three line whip.

To which I'm imagining a fair few of the backbench Tories in those safe rural seats are currently thinking - FINE! :basil:

On the other hand, I wonder if the strategy was to kick some of the MPs gunning for her out of the party so she doesn't cross that 33% threshold?

I wonder how many Tory MPs considering a rebellion tonight will be factoring in that they might have a better chance of keeping their seat if they do get themselves thrown out of the Tory party.

Yes, I was thinking this earlier. There must be some with decent majorities and reasonably good reputations as local MPs who think it's a better chance of a political future than remaining in it.
 
Why is she effectively calling a confidence vote on herself, is she THICK, or is she looking for a way out?

Or does she just LOVE FRACKING SO MUCH she’s risking EVERYTHING FOR IT!!!
 
Every time I think this absolute shambles couldn't get any worse...seeing Suella get the boot is delightful tho'. I hope the witless arsepiece is furious.
