The United Kingdom: The Liz Truss CRASHING THE PORK MARKET WEEKS 🐷🐖📉📅🥬

I feel like the entire political system is on public trial here. We need to back a few steps and work out how the hell we ended up being governed by these weak, silly, greedy, self-centred imbeciles. Why were these idiots the people who were favoured even at the selection stage pre-election? Who is pulling those strings? "Nah, not him; he's principled and actually quite clever, let's have the muppet who was asking us whether or not he'd get expenses for having his office refurbished and wants to employ his wife as his PA".

the appetite for a GE is very high right now. I'm wondering if we won't find ourselves plunged into one within 3 or 4 months. it feels like there will be mutiny of some kind if the Tories select and try to pop up another leader or, god forbid, change course on the economy again.

the Tories are a spent force, the majority of them know it, and we can't afford to have a non-functioning government in power at a time like this. CALL AN ELECTION, COWARDS.

Oh JUST YOU WAIT. We'll all be forced to PLEDGE ALLIEGANCE TO SUELLA on our doorsteps every evening at 8pm this time next month.

I still find it so fascinating that my local/ neighbouring MPs are all now household names rather than the non- entities they always were previously.

Well, Suella and PENPEN are. Poor old "Shadow Minister for Schools" Stephen Morgan ain't doing anything exciting any time soon, but hey, at least I live in the only little red dot in the sea of blue :disco:

This topic has jumped from 9th biggest in this forum to 7th in a matter of days. Likely to rise to 5th shortly, although the ongoing Ukraine conflict and the time limit on this topic will mean it will probably fall back a bit.

Fun fact, I was permanently BANNED from Twitter for this tweet about Suella.

Even if the UK cannot afford a non-functioning government the average MP certainly can.

If they believe the next election to be a lost cause the majority of Tory MP will obviously try to milk the £90,000+/year in salary plus allowance for as long as they can. Being in parliament, no matter how dysfunctional, is also an excellent networking platform. It will give then opportunities to land a lobbying or corporate-government jobs.
