The United Kingdom: The RISHI RICH Sunak ERA

Did Suella actually just utter the line “we have to put the cost of living first” ?

:WellThereWeAre:

They are so stupid. Tata has just selected the UK over Spain for a battery plant, BMW has just reversed its decision to move production of the Mini Electric out of the UK. Perhaps take that momentum, and run with it.

And yes I believe that, against all the odds of this administration, the UK is doing comparatively well amongst developed economies on climate change but that doesn't mean you pause for breath.

There's also just something so infuriating about that hatchet-faced gorgon being sent out to message this - did she advise us what the 'British people's priorities' are again? She loves to do that.

I don't understand how they have equated delaying the ban on petrol and diesel cars to 2035 to the cost of living crisis anyway. How are they linked? It only affects new car sales and if people can afford a new car, petrol or electric, then they are doing ok in the cost of living crisis surely.

Maybe they will only have money to buy a petrol RANGE ROVER instead of an electric BENTLEY. Poor souls.

It’s just to get approving headlines from the Mail and the Express (which they’ve got). Don’t credit them with having any actual long-term plan.

Who are these struggling families who insist on buying a *brand new* car?

Is anyone under 40 ever going to vote for the Tories again? (Aside from that Northern traitor on GB News).

Just watched him respond to a question on whether he's still committed to HS2 going to Manchester with "I'm not going to speculate on other things people might be talking about." :nononono:

It's nothing to do with cost of living, it's because they've failed to invest in anywhere near the amount of charging and transmission infrastructure needed to support everyone going electric.

They’ve just made these up and pretended they’re stopping them??? Honestly why are people so THICK?!

Classic Tory - invent a problem then 'solve' it, going "hey everyone, look what we've done!".

Surely whether someone would be more likely to vote Tory is a better question to ask, in terms of shoring up their vote.

It’s delicious how much this has blown up in his face already. He’s just as inept as Truss, just less visibly insane.

I fear most of those were already on the left with a 0.0001% chance of voting for him already.
For Tories it was 21%, while 26% were more likely too.

Truly astonishing that despite everything, they're still pushing policies that appeals to a relatively small but loud part of the electorate.

People have some weird feeling about their sovereign right to drive, and I say that as some who owns a 4x4 and lives in an urban environment.

The fact they’re going to cut inheritance tax then KILL Larry the cat to distract the public from the fact. The wickedness of this government should never be under-estimated.
