When answering a question from a reporter about his past criticisms of Donald Trump, including calling him a “despot”, Mamdani said that his meeting today “focused not on places of disagreement, which there are many, and also focused on the shared purpose that we have in serving New Yorkers”.

Trump, for his part, made a joke in response: “I’ve been called much worse than a despot. It’s not that insulting.” He added that Mamdani might “change his mind after we get to working together”.

When Fox News correspondent Jacqui Heinrich pressed Mamdani further about whether he considers Trump to be a “fascist”, the president offered the mayor-elect an unusual life raft. “That’s OK,” Trump said while tapping Mamdani’s arm. “You can just say it, it’s easier than explaining it.”

Scrolling through social media these days is a constant struggle of deciphering what's real and what's AI. I would have put the above firmly in the AI column.

This is fascinating. Given how foul her politics are in general, it's hard not to wonder what she thought was going to happen. It was already super obvious that Trump was mentioned, one wonders what she was told and also, one wonders if the scales have fully fallen from her eyes.
 
She seems to be going back on a lot of previous statements and actions. I have no idea where this leaves her politically. Possibly in the position of a pre-MAGA Republican. Something tells me the Trump-Epstein stuff has her questioning everything. I hope she's the first of many.

Caveat: I have no doubt she's still a shit.
 
She's just eyeing a media career. She was blocked from the cushy Senate job she craved and she's clearly bored of the comparatively dull job of sitting in the House of Representatives.

She'll have taken up a panel job on one of the news networks, or possibly The View, by January. Presumably to coincide with the release of her memoirs.

Sadly I suspect, there's quite a few pretenders to the throne. I concede they're nowhere near as fucking audacious and visible as Trump, but still the overton window isn't due to swing left any time soon.
 
I was watching a clip of the reactions from members of the public after JFK was shot. Even those who hated his politics displayed reverence towards him. You wouldn't get that now. How far we've fallen.
 
One of the reasons Trump was put where he is was to destroy faith in democracy and demean the role of president. So as to make room for something else...something a little more...dictatorial...
 
There is a possibility the special election for Tennessee 7th district could swing to the Dems

The meltdown could be fun...
