They're already calling for the removal of vaccination priorities here - even though they still haven't vaccinated all risk groups, let alone fully vaccinated.

I mean, I am very likely to get my first shot this month if the numbers hold up but still... I am not sure trying to overpromise is a good idea.

My theory is that with the millions of people who have been vaccinated, the "rare" blood clots for people with no underlying health conditions could be undiagnosed diabetes. There's estimated to be more than half a million people in the UK going undiagnosed.
 
I think it's rare, but with all the press about it they're covering their backs, which is fair enough
 
Yeah there's only 100/150k new people getting vaccinated a day currently, and until they get through the second doses/receive a major delivery, that isn't going to change. I struggle to see how they're going to make the end of July target for all adults at this rate.
 
I'm sure I heard there was a big new batch of vaccine expected to arrive next week, so first vaccinations should be able to go up then.
 
I didn't really know the guy, but it does make the risk feel very real. I still tried to calm my mom and explain how drugs work in general and how those risk exist.

39 so they tried their best to talk me out of AZ jab (Pfizer availability in a month+) and they seem to be trained to refuse if they think your working and living arrangements are safe enough but called in one of the doctors who gave the nod. Rapid change in tone once she got the go ahead - "great we'll done, I'm glad you decided to get it"

think I already have an achey arm an hour later but that might be me thinking about it

that’s ridiculous. The chances of you getting and spreading covid in the next month are higher than getting a mostly treatable blood clot.

I don’t usually think the us is doing things correctly, but the policy of just getting as many vaccines out as possible seems correct to me
 
The big vaccine centre here is starting to roll out Pfizer soon, I imagine they’ll use that for under 30s.

Yeah I have a friend a few months older than me who got turned away and told to wait for Pfizer. As in they outright refused. They're really trying hard NOT to give AZ to under 40s at least at our health centre and it's only because I was very pushy and assertive that the lady doing the jabs gave a deep sigh (in a friendly way) and called one of the GPs in to give the go ahead. But after the pressure was off her to turn me away she actually u turned pretty hard on her tone and was like "good, I'm glad you decided to have it, this has been really badly planned to not get more Pfizer supplies ready first, and is such an extremely tiny risk" and agreed with me that we take bigger risks stepping out of the house every day. It's just that officially they have to adopt the "wait for Pfizer this one is dangerous" tone until allowed to do otherwise.

This is going to cause a fair delay for the under 40s I think, assuming it's a month for supply everywhere else - anyone on the fence will definitely be turned away you really have to know you want it and say you want it. Plus all the fear mongering will outright put off some from getting it at all. I think we can expect a mini 3rd wave in young adults but hopefully shouldn't be a problem beyond "oh heck numbers are going up"

My parents were mega paranoid as they'd read alcohol might affect vaccine effectiveness, they didn't drink for days either side!

I did a short amount of digging and read "no evidence that alcohol inhibits antibody formation" which is good enough for me :)

there's actually some in the jab itself!

Any clotting happens 4-14 days after the jab but that seems a good excuse to keep thinning the blood...
