The key word there being rational. It's the totally irrational nature of this that makes me worried about what could be next - nothing's off the table now.

I work with some Ukrainian programmers at the moment. I just looked up where their office is - Kharhkiv. BBC news live feed latest update is "Russian tanks are already in Kharkhiv".

Having lived through two wars as a child, I’d say it’s probably much harder for adults. As a child you’re of course scared and worried but it’s too overwhelming to comprehend.* As an adult you have a lot more consequenses of war to worry about.

He doesn't believe Ukraine is a country and considers an independent one that thumbs its nose at Russia a personal insult.

Diplomats said that several E.U. members were concerned about other sectors of Russia’s economy that could be penalized. Austria, Germany and Italy raised concerns about imposing broad sanctions on cross-border financial transactions and banking operations. And Italy was pushing to leave the luxury goods industry untouched so that it could continue exporting fashion and other high-end products to Russia.

Belgium was seeking an exemption for its large diamond sector, and no E.U. countries were seriously advocating sanctions on Russia’s vital energy sector.

The European Commission, the bloc’s executive branch, has been working on the sanctions package for months, which partly explains why the first set of penalties this week was approved so swiftly. But there are no guarantees that the same will be the case with the second one on Thursday.

Our project management system is based in the Ukraine and we've started emergency transfer procedures to another provider. Bigger companies likely will already have done the same. We don't see any choice, but it's going to fuck the country economically...

The fact this wasn't worded as HATS, GLOVES and SHOES shows how even the GAYS are realising the seriousness of this matter

I think this has shown bias in myself and other people around me (real life and online). I had no idea there were so many people in Ukraine. If this was happening in Spain (which has a similar population), I think there would have been different feelings/expectations before an actual war starts
