I've seen twitter speculation that Jinkx Monsoon is taking over from Cole Escola in Oh Mary! although no confirmation.

Wishful thinking? It would be unusual to announce someone after Escola (who was only announced days ago) while Catherine Tate still has over a month to go, wouldn't it? I'd have thought it may harm her sales.

Wishful thinking? It would be unusual to announce someone after Escola (who was only announced days ago) while Catherine Tate still has over a month to go, wouldn't it? I'd have thought it may harm her sales.

Escola's only doing it for a month, so if sales are decent for their stint already I guess no need for delay? Especially if Jinkx is doing it for longer and therefore more tickets to shift

I've been mulling booking for Cole, but as I saw Mason and will be seeing Tate I thought I'd hold off and see who's announced for after in case I'd want to see them more. As I'm seeing Jinkx in Over The Rainbow I think I'll now bite for Cole.

It’s LONG, but overall very good. Lesley Manville looks incredible! Aidan Turner very hot shirtless, but couldn’t even vaguely hide his Irish accent.

Why would Aidan even need to hide his Irish accent though? Isn't it set in France?

Was Lesley hiding her English accent?

Actual questions, I haven’t seen the production. It just doesn't make sense for him to drop his own accent to put on an English accent to play a French character.

Well they’re all portrayed as English, with Monica Barbara doing a very good English accent. And Adrian Turner is also putting one on, but kind of gave up halfway through. I didn’t it in previews so no idea if he improved after that.

Well they’re all portrayed as English, with Monica Barbara doing a very good English accent. And Adrian Turner is also putting one on, but kind of gave up halfway through. I didn’t it in previews so no idea if he improved after that.

Ah, I see. I still find it odd to see French people speak with English accents, like in Les Mis. Why is Fantine so posh? Or Kenneth Branagh's Wallander in Sweden. It doesn't sit right.

Maybe it's just a me thing.

I didn't appreciate what a stellar actor is Gillian until I saw her Blanche DuBois via NT Live. I have high expectations for this one.

Speaking of Kenneth Branagh, I’m hoping to see his RSC return to Statford-upon-Avon this summer. Alas, Tempest is sold out I believe. Might make The Cherry Orchard though.

Another on my list is Sweeney Todd at Birmingham Rep, with Ramin Karimloo and Meow Meow.

Cynthia Erivo in Dracula was a last minute major discount and I still kind of regret that. So glad I didn’t fall for the Brie Larson Elektra scam.

I wanna see Cole Escola for Oh Mary! Any chance the ticket prices go down after the initial hype or should I just bite the bullet? They seem to be 50% higher than what I paid for Tate.

I saw this a few weeks ago and can thoroughly recommend it. Very moopy humour. My face hurt from grinning the whole way through. Doesn't look like there are many dates/venues left though.

My top tip, if you live in a city with a decent arts scene, is to largely ignore the big venues unless there's something you're particularly desperate to see, and concentrate on the smaller ones. We're lucky enough to have several here where you can get tickets for a tenner plus, and you can see some real gems. I think I've done about 12 shows after making something of a resolution with a friend to support smaller venues, and haven't paid more than £25 for any of them.

I'd read elsewhere that there was overhang from the dress circle from quite a few rows further forward than that, but you're right, looking at seatview it looks like a decent view.

I'll have to compromise somewhere as I'm not willing to pay top tier, or likely even second. And the most important thing is to avoid cramped legroom.

I've dealt with overhang before, it's hardly the end of the world. I think we had that for Oliver! and had a brilliant time.

I had front row for Operation Mincemeat, which I was a bit wary of, but in the end it was brilliant.

It depends on the production anyway. For the vast majority of them losing the very top of the set makes no difference. For Mary Poppins unfortunately it did. From what I know of Oh Mary, I'd imagine it'll be negligible.

I was near the back of the stalls for Oh Mary! and the view was great.

I’m getting tickets for Cole as he’s playing my birthday. Want to see Jinkx too but not sure if I can justify going THRICE.

obsessed with this important follow up story - it's almost like something from The Onion

Rosamund Pike kept her cool after a phone alarm in the front row interrupted a performance of Inter Alia on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, it is understood that a member of the audience sitting in the front row failed to notice a phone alarm ringing for more than a minute.

Despite refraining from making any comments after the show had finished, Pike is understood to have shot the woman a glare when the phone was finally retrieved from her handbag and silenced.

“She shot the audience member a glare and it seemed to have distracted her from the scene, although she remained entirely professional in her performance.”

my main takeaway is that everyone is terrified of Rosamund Pike.
