These Are Mysterious Thursdays

It’s the WILLIAM BASINSKI concert tonight :disco:

Watching a video called “words in Spanish that don’t exist in English” with two American women guessing, a Mexican woman and a Spanish woman who are explaining.

The American women just keep guessing single-word answers which misses the whole point

I’ve got NOTHING to do at all today. Anything I could do would practically involve getting a bus and GOD FORBID that should happen, so I’m going to clean my wardrobes out instead.

I’m going to clean my wardrobes out instead.
I've been doing this since Monday and every time I think am getting closer to get it done, I discover some new forgotten clothes left in the second closet or suitcases or backpacks and then I have to rearrange everything, so that they're stored by category and colour. What's worse is that since all the winter clothes are of no use for the next 3-4 months I've been storing them in compartments that I cannot reach without a ladder so I know that in 3-4 months I'll have to repeat the process to move them downwards and swap with the summer ones.

EVIL LANDLORD NEWS: in a really weird but actually very convenient bit of timing, my tenants have given their month's notice to move out. Operation Get It Sold is about to kick into high gear :disco:

So releasing all of those spiders into the bathroom worked. Great news!

A couple of months ago I was absolutely sure I had it, tested negative, Iguana then tested positive, but I continued to test negative the whole time. I'm sure it was Covid, it had to be!
Two of my mates I was out with are in the same boat, both ill, both testing negative. Maybe we’ve got some unreleased white label strain the mainstream kids havent had yet

Morning. Day off because I;m working on Saturday. Got up to score an album of a jazz guitarist who's been dead for 15 years improvising with pirate jungle stations in the 90s. Welcome to my life.

Are you still carless @Sheena ?

Until Tuesday. I've bought a BMX X1 off Motorpoint. SIGHT UNSEEN! Which is making me SHIT MYSELF.

They get good reviews as a company, the car is still within 15 months' warranty and I can claim a full refund within 7 days if I don't like it, so should be ok.

Jesus- how much do you have?

Mine will take me an hour when I stop procrastinating and selling CDs on Discogs.

I had this twice last year. Both times RIDICULOUSLY heavy colds and lost my taste. The first time, admittedly, no one around me tested positive, but the second time, a whole room of people I was with at work got it after me and I supposedly didn't.

I reckon the tests aren't exactly FOOLPROOF.

In OTHER news, I'm off to the very middle class KITE FESTIVAL in Oxford tomorrow. It's basically a bit of music and lots of people TALKING (Ed Miliband!, Jarvis Cocker!!, Bimini!!!, Delia Smith!!!!!!!!!) and the music line up for Saturday is Saint Etienne, Grace Jones, Self Esteem and Mavis Staples- TOTAL WIN! But I've just found out TLC have pulled out of the Sunday and now I just want to come home early :(

Pretty sure you mean a BMW but, if not, I'd love to see you on your BMX doing all the mad tricks so make sure you get some videos! :D

Seriously though, I'm sure you'll love it and I don't see any reason to worry just because you haven't seen it in real life yet. Motorpoint are good, they wouldn't have been going over 20 years if they weren't.

That's an ace Saturday right enough.

ISN'T IT!? After the Mighty Hoopla shenanigans last weekend, I've been kinda dreading it, but I've never really looked into the festival beyond the music and actually it seems rather MIDDLE CLASS and sedate which is JUST what I need to be honest!

Yes, BMW!

I really wanted an Audi Q3 but couldn't find one I liked and three weeks without a car is LONG ENOUGH thank you very much. To be honest, I think I could survive, but my Mum is beginning to struggle with not having someone to give her lifts everywhere when she needed it, so...

I did Latitude a few years ago, which is the ultimate in middle class festivals. It was LOVELY!

Surely Wilderness is the ULTIMATE in middle class! It's basically lots of posh people doing yoga and eating at ridiculously overpriced restaurants.

It's interesting that I always said "FUCK OFF, NO WAY, IT'S A FESTIVAL, PASS ME THE DRUGS" etc. about going but when Mr Sheena made his bi-annual "we should go" plea this morning after me talking about Kite, I actually thought it wasn't a bad idea.

WHAT HAVE I BECOME?

Update on Operation Get It Sold (new snappier name TBC):

I had been keeping an eye on a flat that's in the building next to the one I own, but is part of the same development and is literally exactly the same flat as mine (on the same floor, exact same layout and dimensions in every room, just different finishes in the kitchen and bathroom as these could be customised when initially purchasing). It was listed on Rightmove on the 1st of June, for an amount that would be MORE than enough for me to get a deposit somewhere decent... and having checked today it seems to have already sold. That's a good omen, I think!

I thought you meant you were thinking of buying an identical flat next to the one you already own! :D

But yes, agreed, good signs, beautiful signs.
