Prices have gone up by way way WAY more than inflation. For comparison, I saw a ticket for the Spice Girls at Wembley in April 1998 which was £18. If prices had only gone up by inflation this would cost around £34 now. Their London dates for the 2019 tour would set you back a MINIMUM of £60.
 
Although if I were them I would be tempted to tweet back “Liam, you’re unbelievable x”
 
Referring to Corden as the "bloke from Kevin and Perry" is actually very funny and would get right under Corden's skin too. He's not misremembered that, it's entirely on purpose.

This sort of messes with my mind. Did Oasis do ANYTHING in America?
 
Surprisingly very little compared to the rest of the world. The first 3 albums are around 6 million or so in the US. The only 2 big single here hit #8 and # 55. Champagne Supernova was massive but I don’t see that it charted on the billboard main chart (maybe due to no single?)

They didn’t hang around here long BUT you couldn’t escape Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova.

They are just one of those bands you may not love but you kinda know so much about them and their antics that they have become mythological.

I honestly would have thought that they could have walked through any street in the US unnoticed. Very surprised they have sold that many records in America, although I understand at that time is small fry in the grand scheme.
 
I don't know why people are surprised. WTSMG sold over 5 million when it came out, it's probably on way more than that now. That's a big number for any UK act. They also made a lot of noise when they came out. And known worldwide as the frontrunners of 90s britpop, which was a massive export in the 90s.

There was always the same tired stories at the time about artists "not breaking in America" - it was such a trend in the music press. They made a big deal out of Robbie Williams flopping but he actually DID really try, and his label spent a lot of money trying to make it happen, so that story makes sense. But Oasis are not a pop act. They toured a lot - successfully, and had multiple multi-platinum albums. Rock audiences are just different - Nirvana never had several hit singles on the pop charts either but they're still considered one of the greatest acts of all time.

Oasis are an alternative act in America, so yes less mainstream, but I never doubted that they had a massive following.

They're also still massively influential on today's alternative scene. There's a reason they were nominated for this year's RNR Hall Of Fame.
 
Surely enough people have seem Game Of Thrones now to learn that not everyone in the UK speaks COCKERNEY
