Thursday puts the tree up

Just sent a SNARKY e-mail to someone only to receive an OOO saying they may be slow to respond as their wife is in the hospital.

Now is the time to make a move on the husband, though...

Eurgh grey winter is such a bitch.

My sleep pattern is fucked, I'm too tired to work. Physically and mentally shattered, despite no proper symptoms of anything. I've barely left the house for over a week.

Post viral fatigue is real and absolute shit.

Although, better I'm getting a decent wage tomorrow, which means I can finish Christmas shopping this weekend, which is just about perfect.

I'm at the tail end of some lurgy but I feel you. I want to go to the gym and shit but my body is just saying lie down and eat toast.

Literally two weeks ago I was super full of life, lining up jobs, full of energy, ready to conquer the world. Now I'm listless half the time, veering on vacant. Same story last year and the one before.

I'm not particularly down in my mood (although I was last week, morning anxiety every day - why?), but there's a greyness to match the weather.

That being said my skin and hair look great at the moment so +++.

I'm sure I do the same thing at this time every year because of the lack of light but it still takes me by surprise and pisses me off.

This screams SAD to me. I get it every year, but after Christmas. One of my biggest red flags is anxiety and depression in the morning. Before now I've said to myself "Oh, I must have SAD, because I'm thinking about suicide" (note- just ideation rather than thinking I'm going to actually do it).

Light therapy works wonders for me. I used to use a wake up light to get me up in the morning rather than an alarm (though I wake up at 5 naturally now, so don't bother), and I have a SAD lamp I use on my desk at work. It changed everything.

I was super bouncy this morning and felt great, but am sat here procrastinating, exhausted and just wanting to go home. It fluctuates with me.

I am also REALLY anxious about getting sick at Christmas again. I get ill most Christmases, but 4 of the last 5 I've been PROPERLY sick for over a week with a humdinger of a cold/flu/covid, including the last three. I'm going to be absolutely gutted if it happens again this year, considering we're hosting and I've organised so much nice stuff.

Oh I know I have SAD. I've lived with it since I was a teenager. I guess I'd kidded myself that I'd moved on after having CBT for all of last winter. But really all it did was help me move on from those impulses that allow me to decline into suicidal thought and let in waves of depression. Obviously that's good, but I really was still wallowing during the dark months regardless.

@Sheena Baby I have a sad lamp for the morning. Debatable what that's achieved, but I've not had a complete health breakdown since having one, so maybe?

But actually getting one for the front room might actually be a brilliant idea. Off to Amazon I go (THROUGH THE MOOPY LINK OF COURSE).

That being said I'm entirely sure it's been worse after covid hit, when I suffered from a run of vile viruses and infections. Coinciding with my new line of work, which location wise, really is about as infectious as you can get.

Where the fuck is my Christmas angel, i've been through every box

I've been home sick for 4 days, which has made me feel a bit depressed, but at least I've watched some good movies during it

We've put up the mini tree and hot some hot chocolate will all the trimmings. That's perked me up no end.

I’ve just done another £250 Tesco shop of booze and Christmas bits just for Mr Sheena’s family to turn up and not contribute a thing as usual :)

I wish! I can see that building from my back window, but not as close (it’s really hard to get it in a photo)
