I got confused because I'm usually off work on a Wednesday. But this week it's Thursday.

Have I missed anything exciting?
 
Well, this has really helped the general air of "what day is it?" that I have been experiencing this morning.
 
Also: what year is it given that I'm listening to pretty much fuck all but Radiohead outtakes.
 
For all sorts of reasons, I think I'd be happier if it actually was 1997.

As much as I enjoyed being 15, I'm happier as a wiser adult more comfortable in my skin. I do miss the fingering and bleach blonde curtains though.
 
Yeah, now that I think about it 1997 is probably a bit too early. And, obviously, I'd be wanting to take my current knowledge of the future and money back with me.

Yer. Now officially released via Bandcamp, £18 for 16 1/2 hours of it - all cash to Extinction Rebellion. Felt morally obliged to cough up having scored the original leak and what they're doing with the money. A few people disgusted at the beneficiary on SuperDeluxeEdition which made me laugh. But SDE types want everything on vinyl in box sets full of card and paper so it's hardly surprising they're not fans.
 
Count me out of time-travelling back to '97, I had a five year old sprog and there's not a cat in hell's chance I want to go through that again!

Yeah I saw that, nice sentiment. Is it worth it or is it mostly half finished stuff? I was never a huge radiohead fan bar OK computer fueling my existential teenage angst.

I'm very, very into process and how songs/pieces evolve so there's a lot of stuff that I find very interesting indeed but it is not awash with gems. Most of the unheard songs are scraps, often just Yorke bashing away on an acoustic. There are also a lot of live takes, mainly from very early in the making of the album when they were supporting Alanis Morrissette in the US and taping the new songs to listen to how they were sounding. As such there is a lot of repetition and, towards the end, a lot of mixes with very minor differences. So it's one for the real heads, not the casual.

At some point, I'll edit myself an album length collection of highlights.

I can appreciate that from a musical creation process. I wish I had the time to twat around with a DAW still. I keep meaning to start but never get much further than some 4/4 drum patterns. Doesn't help that I've never really got to grips with Live. Pesky parenthood/businesshood.
 
I still spend a lot of time twatting around with a DAW! But then, there are no mini Octies. ( :( )
 
One day I will have a big room/basement/garage to myself and it'll be full of creative outlets. Shit this is the catalyst for a midlife crisis isn't it.
 
Just had an email at work from some bloke called Steven Hodgson who collects pens with business names on asking whether we have any that he can add to his collection. I thought it was a joke till I googled him.

Lucky for him I'm a bit of a hoarder so I never throw them away when companies send us samples with our clients' business names on. I've already found 20 different ones.

Moopy pet owners I have a question.

Would you be happy if your pet needed an operation and the single vet, no nurse, no oxygen, no monitoring, did the OP on your kitchen floor.

Or would you prefer it to be done in a sterile environment, in a theatre, with oxygen and a nurse monitoring the anaesthetic?

:D true. But it just shocks me that people think it's ok to have their pet operated on in such shocking conditions. You wouldnt let yourself be operated on on your sofa.

I wouldn't like it one bit.

Has the op on the kitchen floor actually been done or is it something that your vets are considering offering?
 
I mean lets be honest, I've seen my dog eat things that would kill a human, drink stagnant water and trot around in mud with open wounds and he never got sick, they have far greater resilience to bacteria than us, so I'm sure a minor operation in the kitchen, if a necessity, wouldn't be an issue. I'd be more worried about the fucking mess in the kitchen to be honest.

Good God no we would never offer that! It's a single vet on the island that does these ops quite a lot. I've tried to talk my friend out of going there but she said her nans dog was fine after he operated on it on the kitchen floor. I think it was a foreign body removal.

But people say we are expensive compared to him but thats because we are a hospital with proper equipment and nurses monitoring aneasthetics and recovery.

Honestly I was speechless. I have to be careful what I say on Facebook as I cant publically criticise another vets that's been named. But oh my God!

Oh God I forgot that it was going colder last weekend when I reprogrammed the heating to come on less, and now Mr S is wandering around the house in some kind of fucking KAGOULE

That's scary! Surely there's something in the veterinary rules about working like that. I wonder if he's even insured. Yes, it's expensive to have a pet operated on but I'd much rather pay the money to have nurses and equipment there with the vet than having my dog die on my kitchen floor. It's like something from Victorian times.
