Anyone else hear about this?

His first AI 'artist' is 'someone' called Tata.

Getting lots of criticism over this. I wonder if it'll even get any traction.

Good GRIEF

"Tata is a living, learning, autonomous..." No she's not LIVING, that's the whole point :manson:

Surely this all couldn't have been less effort than just bunging Keri Hilson Dead a few bank notes again?

Don’t really the difference between this and the flop avatar style acts we had around the dotcom boom in the early 00’s that amounted to fuck all?

Although this was great!:

I think AI artists will definitely have their era. Not sure how long it will last, but for a while unless there’s a mass cultural rejection of it. In the meantime, apparently Gen A are all over AI content and are really not against any of it.

Timbaland is just getting a piece of the action. He’s not the only one preparing for this, he’s probably just the most high profile so far to turn it into a story for clicks

I think he's also the one doing it the most flagrantly. I'm sure studios are already subtly using AI in production, writing etc.

AI music is definitely going to be big, and in some instances, already is big, but I feel like for the most part AI artists aren't going to take off because there just isn't much scope for people to form those parasocial relationships that fuel fandom. So people will be less likely to shell out for vinyls, cardigans, band t-shirts, make up lines etc.

And obviously they can't go on tour and make money that way.

Holograms would be used for the tour I imagine

If the metaverse (or whatever other name Big Tech decides to brand it as) takes off, digital tours might become a thing?
