Tina Turner DEAD

Has enough time passed for me to confess that I really hate 'Proud Mary'?

It’s not my favourite but the intro to this performance makes me laugh every time.

”This next song, some of you MIGHT be familiar with it…

Her name… is… MERRAGH!”

  • Haha
Reactions: KNT
I was randomly singing a bit of a song by her (much less powerfully) yesterday evening, but didn't learn of her passing until this morning :( 💭
🥲 🎶 🌠 Also reading the tribute Tweets - here's Beverley Knight's thread:

May Tina Turner rest in peace and power 🕊🌠🙏

Track 1 on the Simply the Best compilation is "The Best - Edit", don't know if that's something?

What compilation is the one that's taken? Simply the Best or Tina! do we reckon? I suppose latter is easier to find.

I did have a feeling what’s love was going to be bigger than the others for some reason. Looks like it will be close between them.

Cosas de la vida by that Eros guy is also in at #159, which just goes to show the power of it being in her overall Spotify top 5 songs, because surely nobody in the UK beyond @Sheena , @lolly and the Italian expat community knows or is actively seeking out that song...

And we would play the original anyway, RIGHT @lolly ?

FOR ADDED EROS 🤤

Why on earth would you use Spotify to listen, when you can have YouTube to watch?

I can't help it but The Best will never be up there for me, it reminds me of a hen party brunch.

Two albums by Tina Turner are tracking for the Official Albums Chart Top 10 this week, as UK music fans pay tribute to the legend, who died last week aged 83.

Anointed the Queen of Rock and Roll, Tina’s greatest hits compilation The Platinum Collection is her biggest climber so far this week, looking to enter the Top 10 for the first time at Number 8, having peaked at Number 14 in 2009. It could be joined at Number 10 by her former chart-topping 1989 LP Foreign Affair, known for its biggest single, The Best.

But that’s not all, as two more records by the pop icon could also make it into the wider Top 40 this week. 1994 compilation The Collected Recordings is predicted to enter the chart for the first time ever at Number 12, while Tina’s iconic 1984 career comeback vehicle Private Dancer could bow at Number 31, having peaked at Number 2 upon its original release.

Interesting that Foreign Affair is doing so much better than Private Dancer. How many tracks need to be streamed in one session for it to count as an album sale?

That is interesting that the difference is so marked, even if it is relative in terms of actual number of sales. I'll bet there is some streaming related reason/riggery for it.
