I am ALL about early Madonna. I like bits and bobs from the first couple of decades, but she came out the gate firing and the production on the first three songs here is like catnip for me. Spicenip? Hmm no. Anyway:

Hooray for the 'Lucky Star' fanclub! Funny thing is when I was young I had that first GH of hers and I'm fairly sure I thought those three early hits were absolute rubbish compared to what came later. How time changes one's perspective, eh - now those three are the only ones that I consciously listen to! (I went through the same thing with her contemporaries tbh - used to think early Prince / Whitney / MJ / etc. was weaker but now think v differently.)
