Tori Amos - In Times of Dragons (New album) (1 Viewer)

Okay okay

The voice isn't sounding too bad, if a bit quiet in the mix

Is that Tash I hear crawling all over it? :D

The tune has potential if a bit underbaked, will need some more listens! There's a bit of a Speaking with Trees vibe but more upbeat

Love you SORB but you should really be arrested for fraud.

I really like the single a lot.

And seeing her live for the first time in April. :)

I’ve been seeing the clips on Insta of the piano room stuff. Her new backing singers do seem generally thrilled to be accompanying her. I did think she seemed to have some slight difficulties talking here and there (I’m aware of her mannerisms) so I wonder how badly she’s damaged her vocal chords but she is working around it well.

Sadly I think her voice is absolutely fucked. It's been declining for such a long time and now there's not much left. But she's still an amazing performer and the backing vocalists are quite a neat fix. I thought Cornflake Girl sounded amazing even though she was barely singing during it!

Having just watched more BBC clips, I was just coming on here to ask what has happened. Is it just natural ageing and touring? I was quite taken aback with her speaking voice more than anything.

Maybe it will encourage more studio experimentation as she grapples with her new voice and where it can take her.

Her singing voice is fine in the lower register but her speaking voice has gone completely…! I’m not sure if it’s because she saves it for singing.

Hoping she’s using the backing vocalists live because they actually add a huge amount with the harmonies etc. I read that she’s never used backing vocalists at all before?

but what do you mean by this exactly? she's speaking quite normally here a year ago.

I'm really excited. By all accounts she's really good live. I don't have the best seats (on the balcony), but still should be good.

Album gossip stolen from PopJustice

“Shush” is lyrically one of the strongest songs on the album and references “Silent All These Years” in its lyrics.

“Provincetown” is about gay bears and has the harpsichord on it.

The first half of the album is very dark.

The very last song was recorded on the spot and the first 2 minutes are just piano solo. Very sweeping.

None of the tracks she recorded on the album that was scrapped before OTO are featured.

Tash duets on “Veins”

I’ve not listened to any post 9/11 Tori but I’m going to give this a go!
you'll only need a spare five hours :eyes:

That's a very RICH piano and drumbeat. It harks back to Under the Pink for me :disco:

(And possibly a wise choice not to use a clip with her vocal because I can just *hear* baby Tori voice coming in)
