This album is the start of her softer more mannered vocal (slight) decline though at the time I thought it might be part of the “concept”. That sounds like such a negative start from me!

Now I have always loved 'Strange'. Again, the loons were all going about how cheesy it was but I love myself a straightforward Tori heartbreak song. The string arrangement is gorgeous.

Who else has heard that ridiculous country radio remix?

I've never been that deep into the world of proper loony fandom for anyone, but the flourishes I've seen is that anything that could possibly be seen as jaunty, a bit commercial, or trying to chase a hit is immediately rejected by the uber fans. How dare she veer from writing deep meaningful ballads? How dare she try to increase her fanbase to those outside of our inner circle? Some of them can be really quite closeminded like that.

Agree. The somewhat cloying 'Baby Tori' voice reared its head first on The Beekeeper as did the overwrought & overlong 'concept' Tori album..
