Travis

AGOG this hasn't been met with a FLURRY of engagement.

Sing and Flowers In The Window are amongst my most DESPISED songs of all time. Twee twee twee.

Turn and Driftwood are the keepers.

It's strange how FORGOTTEN they are, given they're really to blame for the Coldplays and Keanes and Snow Patrols.

If you sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing, unless you sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing

sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing sing

sing
sing sing sing sing
sing sing sing

God it's annoying.

I mentioned this recently in the TOTP thread but I hold The Man Who by Travis fully responsible for the flood of shite maudlin indie that haunted the charts for several years afterwards.

For the most part, in small doses they fell JUST the right side of twee for me. But yes, their success did usher in some horrible shite.

The Invisible Band is a great album but the singles didn't reflect the more experimental nature of the album and all sounded as if they could have come from The Man Who. Releasing "Reoffender" as the lead single from 12 Memories was commercial suicide - a song about domestic violence with a video in which the band beat each other up and all have graphic injuries by the end was never going to set radio and TV alight and, by that time, Coldplay had stolen their shtick.
