Morning.

Not feeling especially well. I entirely blame the husband, for bringing it home from work.
Same, I slept on the sofa yesterday afternoon, went bed at 9:30 and woke up so tired I went back to sleep for another hour.
 
With AI, the human race has come a long way since the Nintendo Gameboy in a short space of time.
 
And will we ever have a genuine comedy partnership again like French and Saunders again, or will it just be AI regurgitations of French and Saunders?

Many of us on here will have been playing computer games on things like zx spectrums and were not even middle aged yet have access to almost realistic vr open world games. By the time were old the technology will be unimaginable
 
We didnt have a phone in our first house, now I have access to all the worlds collective knowledge in my pocket 🤷‍♀️
 
I was thinking last night how far we've come even just this century - because Mr Kate and I are rewatching Teachers and in series 2 (2002) a pupil has been distributing pictures of teachers' heads stuck onto naked bodies using a photocopier and they're all marvelling at how realistic they are :eyes:
 
Many of us on here will have been playing computer games on things like zx spectrums and were not even middle aged yet have access to almost realistic vr open world games. By the time were old the technology will be unimaginable
The ZX Spectrum 48K was my very first computer.
 
I'm still not that good with a touchscreen. I prefer a button to press. In fact, I jab at touchscreens as if they were buttons.

We went from horse drawn carts to the moon landing in well under a century and that same level growth has applied to tech in our lifetimes.

We didn’t have a phone in the house until I was in 8th grade and now I have one I can’t escape. Younger nurses I work with act like I lived in the feral woods because of that. :D

Having said about it last week, my company has started providing editorial translations for my biggest client (think big sports organisation) and they've just started appearing on their website. I feel like a kid in a toy shop, it's such a fucking rush to see what you were working on yesterday being read by MILLIONS on one of the most visited websites in the world!

I wonder if AI could invent a chip that could be implanted in people with addiction issues (anything from drugs to alcohol to sex to shopping) that could stop their urges and maintain their recovery.
 
Or perhaps it could give them a shock before they relapsed like those bodysuits they used on Big Brother in some tasks.
 
The next big leap in tech and human advancement will be augmentations with the human body for sure. Musk's Neuralink and companies like it aren't far off.

I'd wager we're more likely to get interfaces that can stimulate dopamine and/or act as digital dopamine reuptake inhibitors.
 
Is it just me or does vaping seem to have fallen out of fashion of late?
Might be something to do with the massive increases in popcorn lung and holes burned in oesophaguses and lungs. My asthma nurse told me a few years ago not to vape because the industry isn't regulated and there's no guarantee what's in the liquid, glad I carried on smoking the cancer sticks now.
 
We see so many people in the hospital with severe respiratory issues that never smoked but vape on the regular especially teenagers.
