Is this a joke?

A post-Brexit trade deal between the UK and Japan may have met an unlikely obstacle - stilton cheese.

On Friday, the two sides said they hoped to agree the details of a post-Brexit trade agreement by the end of the month.

But progress has reportedly been blown off course after International Trade Secretary Liz Truss requested better terms for British blue cheeses.

Liz Truss is the punchline to a joke that we will only be able to write with the benefit of about 250 years distance from her total fucking incompetence.

Our total blue cheese exports to Japan totalled £10 million last year so hardly seems worth jeopardising a whole trade deal over.
 
From my limited reading on the subject, it seems like she wants a better deal on cheese to prove her hypothesis that we've been cheated on the worth of our cheese by the EU true.

Or, in other words, she was lying as per usual and now has to demonstrate that she wasn't and it's only the intransigence of these bloody foreigners that is holding Britain back. Do YOU love Britain? Do YOU believe in Britain? Then SMELL MY CHEESE.

Nevertheless, in these times of utter crisis, it's comforting to know that Liz Truss is still fretting about the import and export of cheese after all these years.
 
Why are we all talking down Britain's cheese supremacy? This is a DISGRACE.
 
I don't see why we need foreign cheeses anyway. Who would want Parmesan on their pasta when they can just scrape some crumbs off that stale block of cheddar that's been in the fridge for four years?

For @Rita and anybody else interested the Perseid meteor shower is peaking overnight tonight. Considered to be the best, most prolific, meteor shower of the year, just look up and you should see them. They should be viewable from after dusk to dawn tomorrow.

Thanks Floppet. The only problem is we are meant to be hit by a night of thunder and lightning so I am assuming the overcast will put paid to any viewings. :(
 
I am very close to buying a big van to convert to a camper and its partly because I like the idea of living in it, at least for a year or two.
 
Can't see any meteorites. It's clear but living in the city means that the sky is too bright for even the stars to be visible.

one of my friends has refitted her tiny Berlingo with sleeping space and a kitchen. it's so cute!

this is surely a stupid question, but would I be able to see this in japan too, like we’d see the same full moon. Or is it quite specific like an eclipse?
