It's Charli (2) baby :o

Good morning! I had planned to get into work early today but I just couldn't move when I woke up, so it didn't happen. Probably staying late tonight... I'd forgotten what a pain in the arse September is for us, the past two years were unsurprisingly different but we're back to the usual now :zombie:

I spent £500 with IKEA last night.

Given that this includes a new mattress, that's actually not bad but it still made me yelp a bit.
 
Calculating how much I need to work to fully start paying for everything again. And then how much I need to work to have anything left over.

*sigh*
 
I woke up this morning thinking I had a job thing in Saclay (our local Stevenage) but it turns out that's on Thursday so YAY!
 
I’m going back to the gym this morning for the first time in a year.

Ive got up and done a load of life admin. Havent looked at my computer yet, highly refreshing.
 
Am I going through the menopause and having hot sweats, or is it unbearably muggy at the moment?

I'm going out for lunch, it's so warm I need short sleeves but it keeps raining so I need a jacket.

Also, the mosquitoes!!
 
Just had to sit through a deeply uncomfortable work call in which somebody quite high up in my company forced over 200 of us to dial in on short notice, tearfully announced she was QUITTING and started quoting Maya Angelou. :D

The best part was all the people who didn't realise they weren't on mute audibly laughing at her.

The only way you'll know if your perimenopausal or menopausal is by visiting the GP and getting your hormone levels checked.

I try to avoid the doctors at all costs. I'm putting it down to the weather;

I ended up in hospital because I kept putting symptoms down to the menopause (they were things that can be menopause symptoms though) when they weren't.

You're still a bit young to be starting the change though I think.

When various consultants were asking "didn't you have *names symptom* at any time in the last six months" and I kept answering "yes, but I'm on the change so I'd put it down to that". The Urology consultant lady told me that lots of real medical problems are ignored because women assume the symptoms are just the change.

We've just had the auditor at the shop checking us and making sure we're compliant in everything.

He's told us we can't claim to be gluten free (which we never do anyway!), Because there's a fish and chip shop up the road and gluten could be in the air and travel to our shop 🤦🏻‍♀️

By that logic, you should advertise that your fudge may contain fish
 
I do really like this current assignment.

But the bus does not leave for 45 minutes after I finish. Time to start on that pile of books at home.

I'm just about used to him not being here anymore. :(

It's weird, he's left a massive hole in my life. I have more time to do things now I'm not dealing with all his medical problems, medications and dog walks but I'm really conscious of his absence. I'm still not quite used to being able to switch the light on if I come downstairs in the middle of the night, last night I opened the living room door and then did my usual foot-sweepy thing across the dark room (so I didn't tread on his tail or anything) and remembered when I got into the dining room (Pebbles' infra-red bulb is on at night in there) and Ridley wasn't sprawled out near the table. If I put the light on when he was still here he used to "huff" at me for waking him up. Yes, I would risk a broken bone traversing the house in the dark rather than wake the dog up. He trained me well :D

I miss him most when I'm cooking or just in the kitchen. When I'm cooking I always have my music on and we used to dance together (we both walked round in opposite circles and he'd go through my legs every few goes round then change direction) and the amount of food-waste we have now is shocking. His favourite song was Gay Bar by Electric Six except I used to sing "Gay Paw" and he'd do a high-five at me when I sang it.

It's amazing how much of an impact animals have on our lives. He was such a lucky boy to have found you, and you him. It sounds like you gave him the most amazing life!

All the extra expense and work was totally worth it to have him in our lives for nearly 13 years, he had such a good temperament. I sat on the sofa having a little weep about Ridley being gone the day after he'd gone and there was no Ridley to come over and put his head on my shoulder, he always used to do that when he saw me crying, I had to ask Mr F for a hug and it wasn't anywhere near as comforting as a Ridley hug. We've both said that we'll never have another dog like him, he was absolutely the perfect dog for us! We will be getting another one but not until after next spring at least. I'm in two minds whether to get a little dog or a big dog. I loved having a dog almost my size but he only gave me half a cushion's worth of the sofa so then I was thinking of a little Cockerpoo or something. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if we end up with a big one and a little one.

Whatever you do get, you will adore. A little one would be a vast contrast to Ridley which can be a good thing. But if you love a big dog, go big <3

Yes you absolutely must, but only when the time is right for you. They do not replace our previous pets, but they do help mend a broken heart and as has been said before the dog will be blessed to have such an amazing home with you.

No no, he was deadly serious. He even told Mandy we would have to add in to our speech to customers about the chip shop.

He also marked us down because the glass cabinet that displays the loose fudge had a tiny smear on the front from where a child put their hands on it earlier in the day 🤦🏻‍♀️

But still, we got 99.01%!
