After doing a half arsed bit of work yesterday I've realised I'm not ready for anything taxing so we're off to shoot some VR zombies and eat meat.
 
Yes, but think of all the lovely germs you're getting that you wouldn't have got had you stayed at home.
 
I have to be in the mood for B&M. If the timing isn't right, being in one is like a representation of a migraine. Complete overwhelm.

I spent most of yesterday sleeping, and catching up with tv which was lovely after the mayhem of Christmas. Most of the family have headed back to The Emerald Isle and I am planning on a relatively quiet New Year. I still have stupid amounts of food and drink though, so may take a visit to the food bank shortly to hand in all the leftover party food/cheese boards/ sweets etc. the alcohol will be staying put and I may buy a couple of bits for New Year but the sheer amount of food is overwhelming me right now.
 
We have party snacks from the freezer for tomorrow evening. That really is it. Such a non-event for us.
 
I actually find Ireland better for New Year than around here these days but I’m not in the mood for another big family thing so shall spend it with my babies and grandbaby.
 
Was New Year always a big deal in England? When I lived there I can’t recall many big New Years events? 🤔
 
We'll have nice food but that's about the only acknowledgement of it not being a usual Wednesday.

We've not had a single invite this year, which is a first. Looks like all those years of 'no thanks' have come home to roost. There's perhaps a moment of melancholy about that, but it's very fleeting before contentment resumes.
 
I have been given about six over the last few years and don't use any of them, so am hardly qualified.

New Year wasn't a holiday in England until the mid 70s and even then, it didn't really start to get big in England until the 90s. After the Millenium, it was truly embraced.

Jools Holland has both Lulu and Jessie J on his show this year so has sadly been arrested for war crimes.
 
No NYE for me either, for obvious reasons, though we’ve got some lamb shanks out of the freezer with some vague plan of acknowledging it with a good meal.

Christ alive. Were folk not absolutely queuing up to do this at one point? Now it's Jools, his band, Ruby Turner who seems to be chained to Jools' piano and THEM?
 
I shall be somewhere in the sky, between the UK and Hong Kong at midnight tomorrow. I haven't worked out where yet.

But last year we flew on NYE to Argentina, and at midnight the captain said "Oh, happy new year everyone", most people were asleep. I cheers'd myself with a red wine in a plastic cup.
 
I used to pretend I liked NYE. There is joy to be found in group celebration, but there's so much unpleasant, exhausting and uninteresting about it.

It probably peaked for me when I was about 21 Jessie Wallace rang in New Year at Ally Pally. Sadly Lulu was also there. I can't tell you about an NYE I've enjoyed more, before or since

I mean I know I ought to use them, but who wants to carry that about?
 
I'd rather go without coffee, or use a disposable cup, even if it means paying more like most cafes here charge. In fact I think there's one local chain that won't serve you takeaway unless you have a reusable cup.

And I've no doubt if I did use one, I'd only end up leaving it somewhere.
