Tuesday's feeling hot hot hot

Last night was a bit STICKY, wasn't it?

27° here now. It was only 24° this time yesterday. But apparently it should 'only' hit 33° today.

Good luck places further east and north where today is going to be worse...

This is absolutely GAGGY content for the former meteorologist in me.

Simulated Max Temp between 1pm and 7pm:

I bet that skip out in @Soldi's ginnel is like a sauna. Still, I suppose that could be seen as an added feature.

I slept like a baby last night, despite Ms Ron getting up at 3 and having a minor panic attack about how hot she was.

The air does feel like hot soup this morning though.

Just looking out of the window at the trees, there doesn't seem to be the breeze we had yesterday.

My tower fan has been amazing at night at cooling me down but it is noisy.

We seem to have a slight breeze which is nice. Currently 25 degrees.

If/when this does become a regular feature for more than a couple of nights yearly, I think I'll definitely need to look at the possibility of getting proper European style exterior window shutters. They really do make such a difference

When are you in the shop next?

Not until Friday luckily. But Mandy was in there yesterday and had the air con and fans on all day and it stayed at around 26 in the kitchen. I'm not sure about the selling area.

My paddling pool is slowly turning into an inflatable replica of the killing fields, which is nice. I wish I could have something nice for more than an hour before insects start working out how to commit suicide in it.

Was the shop busy?

Been up to the sorting office to pick up a slab or two of vinyl. Definite temperature difference between leaving the house and getting back.

This isn't as bad as yesterday afternoon/evening for us, but it's considerably worse than yesterday morning already. I'd be worried if the forecasts weren't all predicting it will start dropping mid afternoon for us.

Just been into the local co-op and all their freezers and about a third of their fridges are closed due to not meeting temperature requirements.

It was apparently the hottest night on record in the UK last night. Don't know where the maximum happened, although I suspect you'd get short odds on anywhere near my perineum.

It was kind of unbearable last night. I did everything I could to cool myself and the room down, but it didn’t really work. Not sure what to do tonight.

Soak a towel in cold water, squeeze it then lay it over you.

Cold, wet towel over ventilator is actually preferable IMO. Also because it's such a dry heat.

But once its warmer than 21°C at night, you're pretty much fucked without AC. :zombie:
