Tuesday's gone to Iceland with a large sack marked "swag"

A bag? :o

I've told you @Zu-Klara, not only is a crinoline À LA MODE, you can stuff a 24 piece bbq selection pack and as many arctic rolls as you fancy under it without those pesky security guards twigging on.

:D Oh the SHAME

I’d only popped in there for a browse (:side-eye:), lightly fingered some crinkle cuts and then was so disgusted with myself for being in there that I speedily flounced out. Only to be asked to RETURN TO THE STORE!

They must have thought you'd stuffed a frozen saveloy down yr trousers... :ken:

I've just received a WITHOUT PREJUDICE response to my complaint which ends with," I do hope you'll continue to shop with Iceland. I'm sure that your future visits will be more pleasant." With NO offer of compensation or generous £5 voucher to compensate for my ruined local reputation

Well FUCK YOU!

I can only interpret this intensely distressing incident as a message from Him Upstairs after my gracious visit to church on Sunday :(

I shall just have to buy my lardy shit at Lidl from now on. You can always rely on the Germans :disco:

*same thing happens again, featuring wrestling to the floor and piercing screams*

I'm on the train to London, in a backward facing seat which is making me feel a bit squiffy, and from Chippenham there will be someone sitting next to me. And based on the people I know from Chippenham, I'm worried.

I really should have got the megabus.

Where's @Slave? I'm just going through Bath on the train now. Do you miss it? Sometimes I forget just how staggeringly beautiful it is.

I really don't get people who are squeamish about going backwards on a train.

It just feels wrong. I want to see where I'm going, not where I've come from.

And when I'm heading in to Paddington and I won't get that lovely first glimpse of Trellick Tower until it's right on top of me, I'll be majorly pissed.

I've been offered a trial in doing some writing work. For me the money is eye watering. It could also solve what work I do when I go back to Uni. Why am I so anxious about saying yes?

Well it's what you've wanted for years, isn't it? I think not being anxious would be a lot more unusual.

Can you say who it is for?

Is it the not being good enough conundrum? I have this all the time with my writing work despite endless evidence to the contrary

I would say just DO IT. I'm sure you know this, but write any old bollocks just to get started for the first draft. It almost always magically turns into something decent at some point

I did the Megabus from London to Bristol. Got the front seat on the top deck. Loved it.

I once did the overnight from Dundee to London on the megabus

It was horrific

I did the megabus once. It was an old London bus, without a toilet. And we had one of those side facing seats you have to concentrate sitting on, or else you'll fall off. They do look nicer now, though.

Chippenham person must have saw me manspreading and sat somewhere else.

But there is a couple on the other side of the aisle who seem to be eating an entire Sunday dinner out of multiple tiny Tupperware.

If they get out a Yorkshire pudding, it'll be a swift poke in the eye and I'm having it.

This is going to be a long journey.

And a long daily thread for all of you, I'm afraid.

We're thinking of doing the Caledonian Sleeper at some point, probably as part of my 40th next year.

Now I very much see the appeal in that. And Susan Calman is forever posting photos of it on Instagram.

While I'm here I may as well drop in that me and Mr Ag are about to start looking into adoption. We figure it will be about 5 years if it happens.

That does sound interesting. I'm tempted myself, but given I live half way on the route it's a bit of a faff to even get to the start.

I know someone who is doing the adoption thing via Barnado's (Barnardo's?) - getting right put through the mill, so she is.

Oh my :o

But WHY
I've been exposed to a lot more of my friends kids recently. I'm kinda tired of living a totally selfish life. What is my worth as a person, if i can't raise a child into the world? Not that I think everyone should if they don't want to, but for me it's far more worthwhile than becoming vegan for example.

And on a selfish note I'm terrified of growing old alone.

I've acted a reference for some friends of mine who were adopting. It is a rigorous, thorough process and they found it quite stressful but they were successful in the end.

I think that giving a child a loving home is a very noble thing. I think Mr Suedey would be more open to it but I am far too selfish and career orientated to consider it. I could say ask me again in 10 years but then I'll be nearly 50, so no.
