I do love a good SHIPPING UPDATE

Just posting as a PENANCE for BUMPING OLD DAILY THREADS

Trying to keep track of which parcel is where is a NIGHTMARE at this time of year.

Nearly as exciting as wondering what Amazon have decided is a 'designated safe space' when I've never given them one because we don't have one.

The Wine Society, or rather their delivery agents, decided to leave three boxes of wine (about £300 worth) on the very raised and very visible step of our flats at the weekend- it was there for about four hours. I was tempted to say it had been stolen...

AND DON'T GET ME STARTED ON FUCKING EVRI!

I had a parcel with two apple watches left on our door step (about 3m from the street) last week. They were there for about four hours. It's usually either that or dropped over the side fence - just under 2m high, onto concrete.

In a MOMENT OF MADNESS AND DESPERATION I invited the IN-LAWS round for CHRISTMAS LUNCH so I've just sent off for a BONUS MINI FRIDGE otherwise there'll be COMPLAINTS.

THE FRIDGE IS OVERFULL! THE FREEZER IS OVERFULL! You've PUT TOO MUCH IN THE WASHING MACHINE

:fuckoff:

Amazon have never left anything anywhere silly, although I haven't used them much in their "just dump it" era. The worst were DHL who didn;t even try to find the right flat and left the package on the doorstep outside the block next door. I chose not to buy an effects pedal last week because delivery was by DHL - in December? Forget it!

Back when stuff got delivered without a photo we had a box dropped off and hidden round the side of the house, which we didnt use, so we reported it lost and then found the original box which we drank. Richard Branson has enough money anyway.

If a company advertises they use Evri I won't order unless there is another option. Its a complete waste of time.

And if we're MOANING about courier services let me go off.

We live in an apartment block thats next to a bus terminus so there isn't a lot of parking. Every 5-10 deliveries you'll get an email or text saying SORRY WE MISSED YOU even though we're in because you know for a fact the driver just couldn't be fucked to park 5 meters down the road and walk up.

It really pisses me off.

Do they not even try neighbours any more? Thinking about it I don't remember having to collect one, or taking one in for someone else for months.

There was a whole BBC article (I think related to a Panorama investigation) about how shit they are. They've made it impossible for couriers to make a decent wage with the introduction of a "small packet" rate which they've used as an excuse to reduce payments and so now couriers are just rushing about and doing anything to "deliver" items quickly, including someone apparently telling a BBC investigator to just "chuck it over the front wall, it doesn't matter" or words to that effect...

The meeting was a fucking SOFTWARE PRESENTATION from the guy from MALAYSIA and I had to STAND through the whole thing :zombie:

At the end someone said DON'T FORGET TO GET IN PAIRS AND BRING A PENCIL FOR THE CHRISTMAS MEAL QUIZ so I thought FUCK THAT and came home

Luckily he's RETIRING next year so hopefully THAT can GET IN THE BIN. Why can't we just TALK TO PEOPLE :santa:

I know! Who wants to SOLVE FAMOUS FILM ANAGRAMS when you can BITCH AND MOAN?

TALK TO PEOPLE?

I don't want to TALK TO PEOPLE!

Well NEITHER DO I really but considering I don't FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR I'd rather GIVE IT A GO than play DINGBATS

I'm generally turning my back on anything being delivered to my house unless it's speciality things i genuinely can't buy from a shop. I've bought maybe one thing from Amazon in the last three years but it applies elsewhere too. Fuck the whole system.

We fucked Amazon off, except for actual vital things we can't get locally and/or need urgently. It's just a cancer on society.

A colleague has just announced that the greatest Christmas song ever is Elton John and Ed Sheeran.

And to think I had always assumed that the most evil person you would meet through your work would run some sort of football governing body.
