No dramas in the top 20. I know they released it all to iPlayer in one go but still would have expected The A Word to manage top 20.

The lockdown boom has certainly finished. And shitty old EastEnders still can't make the top ten despite the lack of dramas and news coverage returning to more usual viewing figures.

It's possible that The One Show would have snuck in the bottom of the top twenty, but because I can't confirm the viewing figure for the lowest episode, I can't be sure of the average. I'm guessing it would be around the 3.5m mark though.

That last episode of standard Gogglebox was much lower than the previous few for some reason - I can only assume there was stiff competition. If you look at the previous episodes it was getting around 5.5 - 6m.

That's a great figure for The Salisbury Poisonings. Although it was three episodes over consecutive nights, because of the week cut off, the figure above is the first episode only, so it will be interesting to see how well it holds next week. I imagine it will do really well on iplayer as well, so I'll try to remember to check the 28 day figure when it come out.

I'm persisting with The Luminaries but the first couple of episodes were quite hard work, despite Eva Green. This week's was definitely better but I am not expecting subsequent episodes to do as well in the ratings, and not just because they put them all on iPlayer.
 
Viewers flocked to BBC iPlayer in record numbers in May, which has now become iPlayer’s biggest month ever.
There were 570m requests to stream programmes on iPlayer in May, up from 564m programme requests in April, which was the previous best month on record, and growing an extraordinary 72% on the same month last year.

May saw lockdown measures eased slightly and improving weather across the country, but viewers continued returning to iPlayer for hit shows like Normal People (with 54m requests for the series to date) and Killing Eve (with 35m requests for the new series so far, and 163m requests to date for all three series). Other strong performers in May included the new series of family drama The A Word, the one-off special Charlie Brooker’s Antiviral Wipe, returning entertainment series The Great British Sewing Bee and Glow Up and continuing favourites EastEnders and Casualty.

Dan McGolpin, controller of BBC iPlayer, says: “BBC iPlayer continues to rise higher with yet another record-breaking month in May - 72% more programme requests than a year ago, it’s been the only place to binge on the wonderful new hit series Normal People and the place to see returning favourite Killing Eve first. Before the lockdown period began and all the way through it, iPlayer has been providing a unique mix of entertaining, informative and educational television whenever and wherever people want it.”

Interesting. I did think that the top ten episode list made it look like people were switching off Killing Eve but the episodes were released weekly so not really an even playing field with Normal People I suppose.
 
You know I do go onto iPlayer by default when browsing. Occasionally All 4. I never ever look on ITV Hub if I don't have to. They don't even offer subtitles.
 
Does anyone here even watch live TV anymore? I watch the news but almost watch nothing as it's broadcast.

Just the news as well really, and the occasional BBC drama I suppose. Otherwise I tend to record and use catch up when I have recording conflicts, unless they've released the series in one go and I want to power through.

They are back filming both Coronation Street and Emmerdale. I think they intially had more episodes in the can.

So they still aren't filming EastEnders? It's going to be off for weeks!
 
They are showing old episodes, aren't they? Is that in the usual timeslot? Because nothing is showing in the top fifty, which means the audience is below 2.869m, the bottom show in it this week.

It'll be interesting so see how it fares when it comes back, considering how it was struggling before. Will the absence make people miss it? Or will they just realise they haven't missed it, and not bother commiting to it again?
 
The old episodes are mostly getting shown on iPlayer. Last week they showed the Sharongate episode on BBC1, and tonight I think they showed the Saeed and Ameera wedding so I think it is one old episode Per week on BBC1. They are also showing a meet the cast kind of episode once a week hosted by Stacey Dooley.
 
I can’t see it being good for Eastenders, unless whatever they come back with hooks viewers straight back in, that much time away will see a huge number of people decide to not get back into it. So many people watch out of sheer habit.

I used to watch avidly until I went away for a month and just could t be bothered to get back in to it - though I did get back into my Corrie.

That too though had fallen off the radar in recent months and I’d stopped watching it but lockdown combined with the peak of Yasmeen and Geoff‘S storyline (despite seeing non of the build) hooked me back in.

in conclusion, Coronavirus can add Eastenders to it’s list of Casualties.

Can they really come back with anything amazing, though? I mean, I assume filming was stopped at very short notice, so aren't they going to have to go back and just pick up where they left the interminable miserablism? It's not like it was a planned break at the end of a season, with a cliffhanger that has everyone on the edge of their seat, gagging for it to return.
 
They’re doing a time jump aren’t they? So it’s uncharted territory, they really could do anything and have viewers gasping at a mile a minute.

They absolutely won’t though so, no. It’s the death knell I think.

I know lockdown easing will have driven figures down, but what a shower of shit at the bottom of the chart. When repeats of Vera and Birds of a Feather are making the chart, it shows what little there is on. I'd be interested to see how lockdown impacted Netflix etc subscriptions.
 
Television is hellish right now. I am pretty sure that the same thing happens every Summer but we are usually able to do what we like.
 
I must say I was absolutely OVER THE MOON to see Celebrity Masterchef back on the tv.

You'd have thought the Unholy Trinity of 'ITV', 'Saturday Night Gameshow' and 'Stephen Mulhern' would have given somebody an inkling, wouldn't you?
 
Do they not usually have most terrestrial tv shows filmed up to a year in advance? I know Summer television is not usually much cop so is it just more noticeable that we are getting constant repeats because we were all stuck at home throughout lockdown?
