Eastenders always seemed to be more hard hitting than Coronation Street that I felt always had a much lighter note. Now they both have the odd comedic characters and usually have similar storylines sometimes running concurrently.
 
This breakdown is interesting for the individual EastEnders episodes, further breaking them down to what they were watched on. The average will be higher than the total I posted in the chart on Monday, as that only includes viewing on TV.

Little Mix: The Search not in the final chart, so I don't know the consolidated figure. Certainly less than 3.576m though, which was the lowest programme in the chart.
 
With a slight increase over the previous week as well.

The individual episodes built to the final episode of the week for the chart last week, which was the BIG episode, wasn't it? And it looks like the viewers are hanging around, which presumably is a good sign.

It's very slightly down on the figure it had before the hiatus (4.694m against 4.754m), and a bit more down on the corresponding week last year (5.145m).

For comparison, Corrie and Emmerdale are both slightly down as well, although not quite as much.

I'll be interested to see if BBC stuck with it for the remainder of the run, although I think for obvious reasons they are less ruthless than ITV in that respect. I'm not sure how much longer it's scheduled to run for.

I think they announced that they extended it so that it runs alongside the first two weeks of SCD, so three more weeks?

I imagine the BBC must be a little disappointed with that figure though. Although it was the #3 of the week on time shift viewing (behind GBBO and ACGAS), where I fully suspect it will continue to attract viewers much more than some of the shows above it after 7 days.

I haven’t watched any of them yet, but think I can get the whole season on iPlayer so will be getting tucked in within the next few days.
 
I don't think the BBC will be very happy with that figure for Life either. It is obviously a very different programme but they were pushing the Doctor Foster link in the publicity and it is still a BBC1 9pm drama. I imagine it won't be in the top 20 next week, seeing as the whole series is on iPlayer, which they appear to do more often than not now (see also Us).

No Strictly The Best this week, though I read that the overnights held at about 3m for the four shows. NOT GREAT admittedly, especially when you see those tired old game shows bringing in more viewers at the arse end of the chart.
 
Oh if it's all on iPlayer, it's surely toast next week if it opened low this week. The best we'll probably get is a press release saying how many iPlayer requests there have been further down the line.

Is Matt Lucas replacing Sandi the reason why GBBO is doing considerably better than last year? I find it hard to believe. I'd rather say it's much better casting of contestants.

I did wonder that, but the soaps are all varying degrees of down. Interesting that the other big gainer over last year is another long running Channel 4 show in Gogglebox. I wonder if they also have a better promo strategy than they did last year?
 
Soaps are a bit different though as you're in for the long haul. GBBO and Gogglebox can be watched in isolation. They're comfort TV, soaps are too depressing
 
Channel 4 must be loving the ratings Gogglebox is getting. I imagine it’s not their most expensive show to make...

I was right into it when it was winning it’s BAFTAs, stopped watching but pretty much back into when lockdown happened. I almost use it as a preview of things I might like to watch.

It doesn't for GBBO, I've seen that explicitly stated. So I assume it doesn't for Gogglebox either.

I think it’s seen as the ultimate antidote to everything that’s been going on this year, and of course they have a good few key workers in the line-up this year which ties into the casting point.

What’s C4’s all time record? 10m must be up there surely!

The chart above includes the Gogglebox episode on 9th October. However, further down the channel 4 chart, there was an episode broadcast on 6th October at 10.30pm, which got 708k viewers. Is that the episode originally broadcast on 2th October, and which already got 5.952m, do you know?
 
And then there are another 4 episodes getting between 200k and 350k on E4, but no idea of some of those are older repeats.
