Anyone been watching Married At First Sight UK? That's getting 2m+, which is impressive for E4.

I'm hoping that's the sort of position Doctor Who will be occupying more regularly after the relaunch next year, but we'll see :o

Me! I’m always surprised no one talks about it here

Same here, this was my first year watching and I was properly hooked! @Rita did you watch it?
I'm not watching it, but I've seen a fair bit on social media about it. And was surprised that there had been no mention on moopy of it, at least as far as I had seen.

Like I said, it's getting 2m an episode for E4 which is triple what their next highest programme gets, and quadruple what Hollyoaks typically pulls. And that's before platform viewing which I don't have access to. Usually platform viewing adds about 50k or so for your soaps, but I remember for Love Island for example it made a much bigger difference - and I imagine MAFS appeals to a very similar demographic.

I liked it when it was a posh science experiment program on Channel 4

I'm not quite sure what has happened with week October 24 - 30 (coming up) - there are clearly some mistakes which are obvious as broadcast times are wrong, but it doesnt explain everything, and some shows appear to be missing . I'll try to get my head around it.

When are they releasing the first Netflix figures?
The news story which said we were going to get them said that Netflix was 'set to sign up as a member of BARB' (and BARB is where I get most of the data from), but didn't give a date. So I assume they haven't signed up yet, or I imagine there may well be details to iron out. In the past I've seen criticism that the few figures they do release apparently include people who watch for literally seconds.

Netflix apparently accounts for 8% of viewing in the UK, which puts it ahead of Sky, Channel 5 and 4, but still some distance behind BBC and ITV.

Presumably their decision to go public with viewing figures has come from a place of knowing they are doing pretty well, and must be driven by a hope it will attract new subscribers. It will be interesting to see if it affects their release strategy as well.

I think their decision to go public with ratings is purely to do with the fact that they're now running adverts. Because they need to be able to show buyers the sorts of numbers (and probably more crucially, the types of audiences) they can attract for a company's marketing spend, which is where BARB comes in.

Otherwise it's quite the coincidence that Netflix introducing adverts and Netflix signing up to BARB came in the exact same week.

Oh yes, very good point. Has the ad supported membership started yet?

I was pretty sure I saw something about November but didn’t know if it was November when we’d first see figures or later.

Dan McGolpin, Director of BBC iPlayer, says: “The nation turns to the BBC for the big moments and for increasing numbers of people that means turning to BBC iPlayer...

"There was an extraordinary range of relevant programming available for all to view both before and after the BBC’s coverage of the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and so many of this summer’s key sporting moments were captured live including the famous victories of the Lionesses...

"Once again BBC iPlayer provided something for everyone, from original drama such as Marriage to the intrigue and thrills of The Capture, the stunning landscapes of Frozen Planet II and the joyous return of Strictly Come Dancing.”

The Control Room (appalling) doing better than The Capture s2 (excellent) on the episodes chart is a miscarriage of justice.

I'm pleased the Queen's funeral beat both though, that was top telly. They should do more.

I imagine that's due in no small part to the fact that The Control Room started mid July, whereas The Capture started at the end of Augist.

BARB not updated for this week yet, but at some point in the last week they cleared up all the confusion over Saturday night BBC in the chart last week, so I've updated it.

Very healthy figures for IACGMOOH. I’m assuming the ratings dip last year was simply because it was in Wales.

Last years line up was

Louise Minchin
Matty Lee
Snoochie Shy
Richard Madeley
Arlene Phillips
Naughty Boy
Kadeena Cox
David Ginola
Frankie Bridge
Danny Miller

I tell a lie I didn’t know Snoochie Shy.

Plus Simon Gregson and Adam Woodyatt, so a bit heavy on the soap actors. I think this year might have the bigger headline names, but overall they are pretty even.

SAS Rogue Heroes is holding up decently considering the whole series was put up.

These non-stop ITV X ads are just too much. They'll make a bit of an effort at launch then it will be the same old shit.

Interestingly (:david:) although IACGMOOH had a higher audience for every show, Strictly had the higher percentage share - 52% for the Saturday show. IACGMOOH ranged between 44 and 49% per episode.

Is it me or are ratings in general much higher than they've been for a while? People returning to terrestrial telly as cheaper entertainment?
