TV Ratings 2023

I'd estimate 2.386m for Love Island, which would put it at around #22 to #24, depending on the averages of The Chase and ITV Evening News, which I can't be bothered to calculate.

I love to see Only Connect slip into the bottom of the chart. It must be one of the BBC's best value shows, in terms of how much it costs to make compared to its viewing figures.

Is World On Fire any good? I don’t generally like war things so probably shouldn’t bother?

BARB haven't updated their website for last week yet (although I admit I forgot to check again after about Wednesday), so this chart excludes platform viewing. Which in part explains the rather pitiful totals. And I lost interest after the top ten.

It is quite soapy for a war drama. It is probably a bit below Lesley Manville but I quite like it. Feels like the second series has had a bit of a budget cut, some horrible green screen on display.

I haven't included it in the ratings as only the first episode made the overall chart (so the remainder will bring the average way down), but the first episode of At Home With The Furys on Netflix got 2.642m.

It’s very thicko masses, so not surprised by its strong showing.

Is it basically The Osbournes for 2023? Albeit with a less progressive lead

An athletics TAKEOVER

The Woman In The Wall is also interesting. Ruth Wilson excellent as ever.

Also saw that Channel 5's new drama The Inheritance (Gaynor Faye, Downton gay butler, Nikki As If) won the Monday 9pm slot - I think I read that is the first time since the Sheridan one. Unusually they are showing weekly rather than stripping over the week.

That's a little bump for EastEnders with Cindy's return, but I'm slightly surprised it wasn't greater. Still it allowed the Tuesday show to peak higher than one episode of Emmerdale, which only happens rarely.

I am not used to see Antiques Roadshow at #1 - has this happened much before?

Once or twice since I started posting this - I remember @Rita commenting on it.

Antiques Roadshow (and Countryfile) seem to be pushed around the Sunday schedules (or cancelled) according to what else is on, and you'll frequently see them yoyoing in this chart depending on when they were on. In the chart above it was 8pm, so peak time, as it has been usually for the last few weeks. But I know it's frequently earlier or later.

Coronation Street usually beats it when it's on at 8pm but not by much. So this week u guess it just got lucky again.

Coronation Street and Emmerdale both suffering from having episodes shunted around because of the rugby. It likely would have beaten the England match, but been behind Antiques Roadshow otherwise.

Strictly streets ahead, there's no competition is there at the mo

I wonder what ITV have planned for Saturday nights in the run up to Christmas? I think it must be The Voice and presumably an Ant & Dec vehicle.

Aren't we getting MAMMA MIA: FIND A NANCY or whatever it's called? I might actually watch (if it's scheduled straight after Strictly)

I hope for their sake ITV have the sense to avoid any Strictly crossover.

Oh yes,I'd forgotten that. It was tweeted as 'coming soon' earlier in September, and according to the MM website, it's 8 weeks long, so presumably it will start in October to finish before Christmas.

I can't imagine ITV will want to schedule directly against Strictly, but it's hard to avoid it completely on a Saturday night.

Big Brother starts October 8th, interesting to see if at least the launch show makes the bottom of the top 20

I'd be surprised if the launch show at least doesn't chart well.

The advert I am seeing is not mentioning that the launch will be on ITV1, but we will see... It should have enough on ITV2 to chart at the lower end..

Ooh, Hamza's not-at-all-awkwardly-titled-to-fit-Strictly-in nature show did well, didn't it. He's going to coin it in when Attenborough pegs it
