TV Ratings 2025 (1 Viewer)

It drives me up the wall that Destination X is doing well enough to almost certainly get a second season when Survivor was such an unmitigated disaster in the ratings. What is wrong with British viewers??

Destination X series 2 has already been commissioned 'according to reports'. I've not seen anything official yet.

I think there's probably a whole host of reasons why Survivor flopped. I'm not convinced that trying to reboot a series which failed originally was ever an entirely good idea - or at least made criticism a lot easier if it didn't succeed immediately.

But had they learned from what had made the best seasons internationally since its first run, and cast players who knew the game and wanted to play it, it could still have been compelling TV and had a chance at becoming a hit. But the casting was royally fucked up with boring players who had seemingly never watched it before.

The scheduling didn’t help (it should have been a midweek 9pm show, not following Strictly on a Saturday), and I'm not entirely convinced Joel Dommett was the best fit either.

Will ratings ever improve or are these paltry figures the new normal? 😢

I think they'll get WORSE

It won't even just be the streaming TV services that cannibalise them. I think "TV" overall will decline - so much of the younger generation are getting their entertainment solely from Twitch and YouTube instead.

Well it worked brilliantly in Australia rebooting their failed first two seasons - but the main difference is that they show US survivor over there so they were used to the format generally.

Joel was a TERRIBLE fit, agreed!!

Looking good that Destination X will get a second series (unless it's already been renewed)?

Has Fortune Hotel made the top 20 once? I think it will get cancelled.

No, and not particularly close to it, either. It averaged 1.306m in the week above.

Never have I been so happy for a show’s viewing figures to fall off a cliff so much as Mrs Brown’s Boys. Truly one of the most abhorrent TV shows of all time.

I made a mistake in that chart and have edited it. I originally included In Flight thinking it only had one episode, whereas it was three across the week. It dropped off a lot after the first and so based on average didn't chart.

In Flight was excellent nonsense! Kept me interested the whole way through as didn’t know what was going to happen next. Katherine Kelly is always fantastic too.

Is Agnes DEAD? 🙏

The depressing thing is it still remains one of the top performing comedies on the BBC, even if it has fallen considerably. Amandaland is the only comedy recently I can remember performing significantly better.

Ridley looks like it is taking over the Vera slot for ITV. I haven’t watched yet.

It’s not as if there isn’t decent comedy on the BBC: Mandy, Alma’s Not Normal, Two Doors Down - but a lot of them are niche. To get the numbers they have to appeal to the masses - i.e. be shite.

I've watched all four of the recent run. I thought two were good stories, (I think the second and fourth), and the other two very average.

But it's hard to care about any of the characters. I wouldn't seek it out if I wasn't told we were watching it that night with dinner and could be arsed to object. It's just not compelling TV like a lot of the best drama is.

How many of this Top 20 have people actually watched?

For me it's only two - and of those, Ridley I watched the week after, so wouldn't be captured in this data. The only show I did watch which would have been counted is Only Connect.

Yeah, it doesn’t draw me in. I always find something else to watch instead, rather than give it a go.

The 3 soaps and I think I may have caught part of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show if it was the one with Rylan and Alison Hammond.

The 1% Club seems to be dropping too. Is it repeats or do they just make more of them? It started by only being a season a year but now it feels like it’s on all the time.

Is Annika actually NEW NEW - I know that was the Nichola Walker series that was on other platforms in the earlier series' before

It's the (second) series previously broadcast on Alibi in 2023, I believe.

Fair one to Destination X. Didn’t watch anything beyond Ep 3 but maybe people like being ABSOLUTELY BAFFLED (see Only Connect)

Did anyone else catch I Fought The Law with Sheridan? I thought it was brilliant.

That's a big number for The Thursday Murder Club. It was alright but I wanted it to be a bit funnier.

I have one episode left and she's been excellent so far.

King & Conqueror managed to lose over a million viewers in a week I see. I enjoyed it but I am not entirely surprised.

Nope, and something strange is going on, as BARB seems to have deleted the figures for the week before as well.
