TV Ratings 2025

I’m assuming just a glitch somewhere? I remember once or twice they hadn’t updated but I can’t remember you saying about previous weeks having been deleted. 🤔

No, I don't recall weeks being wiped before.

The thinkbox website has updated, but that's the one which excludes platform viewing and the streaming only services.

Actually I will post the thinkbox chart, as that one will disappear tomorrow when the new chart updates - it doesn't have an archive.

I just realised, not only does the chart not include platform viewing, this one above also doesn't include pre-broadcast viewing, which explains why I Fought The Law took such a tumble.

If anyone knows any other websites which hosts the full BARB details, please let me know.

One thing i dont get chase few things hell ones say new but from 2023/2 huhhh & get pepole young show is brad roxs to young dis everrr 😂 call research i no things happned 700 years i alive 🥹😂😂😂👍😎😀👊🏼

Bigger bow wow better

Gogglebox still top 10 after so many years is quite impressive. It must be easy to make, fairly cheap and they get to promote some of their on C4 shows

I've not done this week as BARB hasn't updated again. I'll do it without the platform/advance data later, and then give it a couple more weeks to see if it does update. If it doesn’t, I'll knock this thread on the head.

NOOOOOOO!! 😢

NOOOOOOO!! 😢
It just doesn't seem worth it with all the missing data. Not only does it exclude platform/device data and viewing in advance of broadcast, but I also forgot that it excludes data from the streaming only providers.

I'm sure I Fought The Law would properly be #1 or #2 in the chart above it we had the full data, and that The Guest didn't really plummet out altogether. I also imagine The Thursday Murder Club would have had a second week strong enough to chart again.

Platform/device viewing doesn't make that much difference, but it's another element of missing info making smaller numbers even more so.

And I've still not got over the 28 day figures being withdrawn, which are a better indicator of success, anyway.

Surely BARB will update though. Is that not why are even ACTIVE? It has to be a glitch.:(

Perhaps someone's just off sick, who knows? I'd have thought (well, hoped) there would be something on the chart front page where they post updates if they were officially stopping doing it, but there's nothing.

And I don't think the info is freely available elsewhere - or at least the twitter accounts I follow which often post viewing figures have all been silent as well, which makes me think they get their info from the same place.

Beat The Chasers must be on its way out soon if it’s just scraping above the normal version?

I've no idea what the format of Beat The Chasers is. Would it be significantly more expensive to make than the standard one?

Celebrity Gogglebox doesn't do any/much better than the normal either but seems secure, although I've no idea if that's a valid comparison.

Looking at the soaps again I take it EE gets a lot more people “catching up” than Corrie and Emmerdale. I think the ITV soaps have a lot more older viewers and the majority have DIED OFF.

The only difference is they use all of the Chasers for each episode so I guess would have to pay them all rather than one per episode in the normal format. Or maybe they are all on a yearly salary who knows? Also there is scope for more for amount of money dished out per episode for the winners, but given that Beat the Chasers is on much less than the daily version, that must even itself out, given ITV would get more money for advertising at primetime.

Nope.

Does EastEnders still drop on iPlayer on the morning of the day it is broadcast? I'm wondering if that's why it has taken a tumble. I don't imagine it would be a huge audience who watch it ahead of broadcast, but it's probably not an insignificant amount.

Yes, 6am each day.

I just called in here for the first time in weeks and was horrified to see it having taken such a tumble so hopefully the missing data accounts for some of that.

Would it be far off to guestimate that maybe just under a million people catch EE on the iPlayer, which would put it just behind Corrie and Emmerdale and about #7 in the most recent chart, or maybe after the News? Sounds about right..

I think Corrie has had about a half a million lead for the majority of the year so would probably round EE up to about 3 million.

This is where it gets fiddly. Some iPlayer data IS included. What is excluded is iPlayer viewing in advance of broadcast of that specific episode. But all the viewing for the next 7 days is.

Plus platform/device viewing, but that is excluded for all shows.

And I'm assuming ITV don't drop Corrie or Emmerdale early in the day either, in terms of how close it would get EastEnders to them.

Emmerdale have also started dumping whole episodes on YouTube, which presumably aren't picked up here

There was a story a few months ago about BARB starting to include YouTube views from certain channels. When it started or which channels are included I don't know, but I assume they would be looking to include data from official show or TV station channels.

BARB IS BACK :disco:

The website seems to have changed and now includes 28 day data again, which in itself is going to make me think how I continue to post the chart, assuming it continues.

Firstly I'm going to post the updated charts from the weeks full data was missing.

To add to the above, that was the second week of release for Wednesday - the previous week it got an average of 5.809m.

There's something a little odd in this one regarding how Michael McIntyre's Big Show has dropped out entirely. Must be a mistake somewhere. Quite possibly by me when I posted it, but as the other website I've used for those missing data weeks doesn't archive their chart, I can't go back to check.

Aren’t the McIntyre shows just old repeats? Anyway, nice to see EastEnders jump significantly. Definitely reflects them having a younger audience who watch it on iPlayer compared to the ITV soaps.

Corrie has been around 500k ahead for the majority of the year so those updated figures check out. 500k isn’t a lot but it is probably a bit of a gulf when ratings are so low.

For the week September 15 - 21, the time shifted breakdown for the highest rated episode of each show is Corrie 21.5%, Emmerdale 16.5% and EastEnders 27.7%.

But that's included in the previous chart. What was missing (and given EastEnders a larger bump with this data) was the viewing in advance of broadcast (so people watching on iPlayer earlier in the day of the broadcast), and platform/device viewing - which surely definitely does indicate a younger audience.

As we have 28 day data now, I thought I'd just show what the #1 of the week was each week so far this year, as far as they are currently available.
