I didn't realise that was the last Game Of Thrones in the chart I posted last week. It didn't hit a new peak for the final at all; in fact it had the fourth highest rating of the six episode season.
 
I really enjoyed Hatton Garden and was rooting for them to get away with the loot, although everyone already knew what happened.
 
Gentleman Jack just wasn’t cutting it for me. I watched episodes one and two but never caught episode 3 and have no desire to catch up.
 
Hatton Garden lost a lot of viewers over the episodes. The first episode had 6.17m, more than any episode of Emmerdale, or Gentleman Jack. The remaining episodes saw the average dragged down.

It looks like the fourth episode got the highest numbers, and that wasn't one of the big episodes at all.
 
I intended to watch Gentleman Jack, but Mr L went ahead without me as he didn't think I'd be interested in it. I know I could catch up, but it feels like the moment has passed.

I do like Suranne Jones though, so I'm glad it seems to be doing well.

There was quite a lot of criticism after the 5th episode and a middling response at best to the 6th. I suspect that harmed it’s on-demand popularity - which is surely where it picks up the majority of its viewers as its simulcast with America.

Indeed, the response to the season overall felt much less climactic than I expected for the end of a TV phenomenon.
 
I watched the first episode of Hatton Garden but wasn't very interested and binned it.

Gentleman Jack has been a bit disappointing. I'm sticking with it, but I thought the second episode especially was all rather dull (Suranne coming over all sapphic aside). This week's was an improvement I think though. I see it has been renewed anyway, having already been shown on HBO.
 
Surely if you have stuck with the show for 8 seasons you would have great interest in the last 2 episodes to see what it was all leading up to. Even if you saw bad reviews online, SURELY you would find out for yourself after you have invested so much time in to it.

@Rita, you posted in the other thread that Love Island opened with a higher audience than the last series. Did it give a figure?

I didn't imagine an ITV2 programme would chart, but if #20 is only getting just over 3m, considering how popular it is with a specific demographic, surely it has a chance.

Not watched yet. As long as it's not the death of Anne Reid, but surely that's inevitable at some point.

It peaked at 3.7 million and averaged 3.3 million. Up on last years which averaged 2.9 million viewers.
 
Incidentally, Years And Years not listed in the chart I get this info from. The bottom show in that chart is Tonight, with 2.999m

And that's just overnights. I can well imagine it will have some catch up appeal, so it will feature here, although not until the week after next.
 
I was watching the trailer for WHAT/IF. It definitely looks like it’s worth a watch.

You would think. But it’s more likely that the lower figures are the “core” viewership and everything rating higher was picking up additional interest.

Again, why you’d start watching the show in its final season is rather puzzling. But I guess that’s the luxury of on-demand and people being able to dip in and try things.
 
GoT was so fucking DENSE though. I can't imagine anyone who hadn't been watching before just picking it up.

Other than the first episode though, the other 5 episodes had very similar figures. And in some ways I figure it may have been unlikely to get a final episode boost, as fans of it were so hardcore anyway, they were watching every episode; there wasn't going to be a boost from people who had missed earlier ones.

That’s probably true - it’s not like Friends or Big Bang Theory where you could just drop in and watch the final episode having missed an entire season.

That said, I genuinely thought the final episode would be HUGE. The lacklustre response to it certainly won’t have helped.
 
Incidentally, the last episode of Big Bang Theory got 2.437m viewers.

There aren't really THAT many around now - Will & Grace is the only other primetime one that I can think of. Spending on US imports seems to have dropped substantially - most comedies now seem to go straight over to the digital spin-off channels or Netflix.

Big Bang Theory had an audience in the UK, it certainly wasn't a complete unknown - but in America it was pulling in between 17 and 20 million viewers for six consistent seasons (and was the #1 or #2 rated show for the last five).
 
I am liking Years and Years. Is it flopping badly?
 
Well it's not in the chart and getting less than 3 million viewers, we know that much. And considering a good time slot, cast and writer, it must be considered disappointing.

I wasnt sure how to list BGT. Thinkbox didn't distinguish between the semi finals and the final, which seemed unfair to the high figure the final received. The semis ranged between 6.961m and 8.596m to give that average. And then each semi result show was listed separately as well.
 
That Eastenders figure is AWFUL! Is that the highest figure of the week?
 
No, that's the average. The highest episode was 4.557m, the lowest 4.155m.
 
I was looking on the BARB website which includes historical data, and thought I'd post the EastEnders figures for the highest episode each week, for the same week each year since 1999, the first year given.

Interesting - where arguably EastEnders should be more popular with a live audience (as a BBC show) and arguably has a much greater "catch-up" culture embedded in its viewership from the old BBC3 repeats that used to pick up a significant chunk of viewers.
