TV ratings thread

What is seen as good ratings now? Would the whole Top 20 be seen as a success? I understand that things very rarely hit the dizzy heights of 20 million viewers now, but I also remember not all that long ago TV shows getting axed as they were “only” hitting 7-8 million.

The landscape has completely changed. I imagine Top 20 would be seen as a success for most shows, unless they are hugely expensive dramas, or if the next series of Call The Midwife for example only hit the bottom of the chart.

I always assumed the likes of Grantchester got a lot more viewers than that. It seems to be advertised to death. I have never watched it.

I'm ecstatic to announce I didn't watch ANY of the programmes in the top 20 o_O O_o o.O O.o

I think I watched 14 out of the 20 programmes. I don’t like American TV. :(

I am BEREFT that Call The Midwife is finished for another series this week. :(

Any news on All Together Now S2 first episode ratings?

The chart seems late because it's for a full week after broadcast for the entire seven day period it covers, to allow iPlayer etc viewing. So the first episode of All Together Now will be in the chart published next week, usually Monday.

Although the overnight figure was 'just over 3m', which apparently was half a million down on the first episode of series one. By comparison, the last episode of The Greatest Dancer (the show it replaced in the schedule) had an overnight figure of 3.468m and ended up at 4.672m as above at #18.

@Halli - All Together Now didn't feature in the Top 50 shows, which includes multiple episodes of the soaps and news etc - I average those or else the top 20 I post would be dominated by a handful of shows.

The number 50 show in that chart (The Great British Sewing Bee) had 3.549m viewers. Considering the overnight for All Together Now was 'just over 3 million' as I posted above, it must have had really poor iplayer figures.

.

Somebody must have hacked into iplayer and altered the figures xoxoxox

Those figures are HELLISH. Under 7 million for number 1 seems paltry.

Oh wait, Cheat started on the 11th so I take it we shall see it on next weeks chart.

Has anyone watched Victoria? I see series 3 is starting on ITV now but i have not watched series 1, and 2.

I do like a bit of Victorian history but I think I would possibly prefer to watch the old contankerous wretch she became in her twilight years..

I haven't seen the new one yet, but the previous two series were easy Sunday night viewing. Kind of a budget The Crown meets Downtown with less downstairs.

Read they are planning a fourth series which will take it to Albert's demise, but would have thought they's stop there. I can't see them giving Olivia Coleman the dressed in black makeover.

Cheat went great guns then. I am actually a little surprised by that as anyone else I asked hadn’t watched it.

Is Olivia Coleman playing Victoria now? I am tempted to watch but am quite put off by the effort I will need to put in to watch all 16 episodes.

She is everywhere, but no my mistake I meant Jenna Coleman.

I think dramas are likely to gain more viewers through catch up further down the line as well, as a result of word of mouth. Bodyguard 'only' got 12.5m viewers in its week, but the figure I've seen for it now is 17m. I don't think Cheat has got anywhere near that hype, but I imagine it may end up at 10m or so.

It is definitely one of the better dramas I have spent time on throughout the past while. Although most of them are awfully depressing I do think we excel in British Drama.
