Quite pleased with the Coca-Cola ham!

I think the only time (in about 20 years) that Mr L's mum about met my mum was at my dad's funeral.

I noticed ALDI are selling a Chateaubriand this year.

What Jesus say about casting pearls before swine?

I can't remember if I've mentioned this, but we're stocking fudge at this weird pop up shop thing for Christmas. In 6 weeks we've sold less there than we do on a good day at our shop.

We paid to be there after they asked us, they've put us in the shittest position and all they post about on social media is their own stock. It's all arts and crafts, we are the only food item.

Anyway, a few weeks ago we gave them samples to give out to try and shift stock, they got through 4kg in 4 days of FREE samples! That cost us £150.

I messaged and asked them if people come in to the shop can they point us out. For some reason that didn't go down well and we had a disagreement. But moved on.

We are meant to collect the remaining stock on Christmas eve by 3pm, we're in the shop until 3.30pm so can't get there.

We are also aware some of the stock is short dated so we need it back in our shop where it'll sell as we are closed for Jan.

So I sent a very polite message saying we will be in tomorrow afternoon to collect our stock and explained all the reasons above.

I was met with "I am VERY DISAPPOINTED, close down is Xmas eve at 2pm....etc etc".

So I apologised and said I didn't know what else to do, although we could leave some bags there with longer dates and collect them boxing day. But short dated needs to come back to us asap.

To be told no, they will pack it up first thing tomorrow and they have found a replacement for the shelf...in 2 minutes! But they're still very disappointed.

Oh fuck off :manson:

Fuck 'em. Even more so if it hasn't worked out and they haven't helped that. It's your business and livelihood. Them being pissed off is irrelevant.

Well yes, and that's what I needed to hear. Because I was worrying "maybe we should leave it there so we don't upset them"...but actually, none them own a shop or business, none of them work with perishable goods and understand having to sell stock by a certain date. She's been an absolute arse about it all.

I finished work at 7pm, my parents arrived at 7.30pm, I go back to work tomorrow morning at 7.30am.

:stopthefuck:

Did you not say that you were paying them to stock your stuff? You shouldn’t be apologising to them, you should be demanding an explanation as to why they have done such a shitty job.

I have said to them that the stock isn't selling and I don't understand why, because it does sell everywhere else.

They got really shitty and said the pop up shop is busy and they're happy...it's not busy but maybe to them it is.

When I politely asked if they could point out stock out...this was the reply I got...

"All of the staff help customers choose different gifts and support visitors with purchases ,it's unfair for staff just to point out your shelf"

I wasn't asking them just to point out our stuff. They've been awkward from the start but we didn't say anything because we hoped we'd make money from it.

Sounds like they’re a bunch of scam artists. If you’re paying them then they should damn well be doing some selling. It sounds like they don’t care how anything does because they’ve already made their money.

You've got perishable stuff you may be able to sell, which they clearly can't.

I suppose I'm not massively au fait with the arts and craft sector on the island, but I'm guessing they can just pack up their knick-knacks and put them in storage. You can't do that, and WILL lose money. It's not hard to grasp.

Well they're stocking a lot of their own crafts, and their daughters stuff and that really is all they're promoting, it's been very obvious for a few weeks.

I've spoken to another business owner about them and she's said they've upset a lot of businesses in the last year or so for similar reasons.

Exactly that! And that's what I tried to explain to them, and I said we are closing for 3 weeks so have to sell stock.

Last Monday they sold 1 bag of our fudge, so I can't believe they will miss us being there..plus we said we'd collect late tomorrow, meaning it would only be 4 hours Xmas eve they wouldn't have our stock. But now they're packing our fudge up first thing tomorrow and replacing us with someone else :D

But they're still disappointed in us 🤦🏻‍♀️

With any luck, they’ll replace you by scamming some money out of that other fudge shop.

I'd just tell them you're sorry they couldn't make it work as well.

Ooh yes, well I'm hoping they ask for feedback! Then I shall say how disappointing it is that our stock didn't sell, considering it sells everywhere else.

I'm thinking I'll probably be kicked out of the WhatsApp chat tomorrow tho.

I did think they were being unreasonable, but I know Moopy always tells me if I'm in the wrong so I had to run it past you.
