He's clearly trying to just get people to associate Savile with Starmer, which is a common right wing tactic which Trump was a massive fan of, but it feels like it has backfired already.

But then, I am not exposed to the idiots who would fall for such tactics, and I hope I never am.

Anyone else would be cancelled for these comments. But it's Boris. It all gets lost in a haze of chaos and disappointment.

I know he'd survive it, but I need that vote of no confidence to happen. It's just SO SHIT if he gets to brazen his way out of this.

I have a feeling it'll need to wait until whichever happens first out of the local elections or the police investigation finishing (and ergo Sue's full report coming out), but yeah - I really want them publicly DIPPING THEIR HANDS IN THE BLOOD and actively voting for him.

That is an exact reversal of 2019 in percentage shares and gives us:

Labour - 333
Tories - 225
LD - 8
Green - 1
SNP - 59
Plaid - 5

That is just on UNS. In an outgoing Tory election, expect the LDs to benefit from tactical voting more (as in 1997) - I would add ten to the LDs and subtract from the Tories.

It’s so great that there’s only really one LD-Lab marginal seat (Sheffield Hallam). They really should be able to get away not attacking each other.

Yes - whereas the LD/Tory marginals run rather deep - they'll expect the remaining wealthy spa towns (Harrogate, Cheltenham) back at the bare minimum. it's why positioning themselves on the centre / very soft centre right makes sense. There's potentially so many 'One Nation' Tory votes to hoover up. Raab possibly toast in Esher for a start and maybe even Gove in Surrey Heath - depending on how bad it gets.

And, of course, Johnson wouldn't have a prayer of holding Uxbridge. It was a naive seat choice in the first place, but presumably he was too lazy to travel too far away.

Davey was more or less elected as leader on a pitch that his strategy would be to focus his fire on the Tories. He recognises that in effect the real leader of the Lib Dems under the current dynamic is the leader of the Labour Party (i.e. a lot of people won't give their vote to the Lib Dems if they really, really hate the Labour leader, because they know realistically post-2016 the Lib Dems wouldn't support the Tories in a hung parliament).

You seem very defensive COB, are you secretly harbouring a crush on a certain unelectable nonagenarian?
It just feels like you've been talking about this quite a bit recently, but it's just a small group of lunatics on Twitter who don't actually matter and are very easy to ignore (if you want to) - I don't see the use in getting annoyed about it, I suppose?

To be fair I can only remember mentioning them twice and they've got under my skin recently. I've had quite a few screaming rows on Twitter which have led to me getting that warning because I've tried to call them cunts.

POLL: Westminster Voting Intention

LAB: 44% (+4)
CON: 33% (+1)
LD: 9% (-2)
SNP: 4% (-1)
GRN: 3% (-1)

Changes w/ 21-23 Jan

This for me is the most telling / tangible poll yet, because many of the flips who went LD or undecided have now obviously gone Labour, so the tentative “let’s wait and see” people might actually have lost patience.
