Honestly, you piss off to bed for an early night and this is what happens. Craven to the last. Wanker.

The comment in the front page of the Fail though

WHAT UNBIASED NEWS REPORTING

Oh! He's local. Bit of a twat, but not the most so.

Hugely safe seat though. I'd be shocked if it was anything but blue in a by-election.

It's a heck of a gambit if this is just him wanting to unsettled Sunak. Does he expect to be more powerful outside of the party than within? Or will it all backfire and he'll be on GB News, drunk as a skunk at 5pm by the autumn?

Oh god, at the very least we're going to get 'Dan Wootton Meets Boris Johnson: The Big Interview', aren't we

team america vomit GIF

The populist rhetoric of Boris’s statement all but confirms we haven’t heard the last of him. The ego has been dented and he won’t be able to just walk away from this. He’ll have to have the last word.

I expect a new round of columns in his chum’s newspapers about letter-box burkhas and Brexit street parties

I love a bit of blue-on-blue myself but it's long past time they were rending each other to shreds on the other side of the house. A GE this autumn, please.

The rotten bastards could theoretically hold on until December 2024 but a feeling is developing that the Tories actually want out for a bit - energy bills are coming down by a fraction of what they should be, mortgages are through the roof and no-one can stop food prices rising. There's a wing of the party that thinks its time to make it all Starmer's problem for a bit but there's also the wing who want to hold on because power is everything and they haven't removed all our human rights yet. We'll see.

I imagine backbenchers in safer seats probably want a GE asap, and everyone else wants to cling.

The clingers will almost certainly win that fight.

That and the fact that most of them don’t know what rising energy bills do to a household budget because they top up their salaries with with book tours, Telegraph columns and mummy & daddy’s money

This is DELICIOUS :D

All that mortifying brown nosing, and he wound up screwing her over just like he did everybody else!
