Create your popstar

• Think up a name for your popstar – it can be a solo artist or a group
• Choose their look – usually modelling websites are a good place to find pics to use
• Create an album cover and tracklist
• Don't give anyone else details about your popstar or album until after the reveal!

Promote

• You can promote your popstar’s album for one week only in the dedicated Urapopstar sub-forum (under 'And the rest...') which @Indie has kindly set up. You can promote in any way you like, including with buzz singles, posting cover art, news, lyrics, interviews, tabloid gossip, controversies…everything a popstar would do. Do anything you can to try to get attention and get people to vote for your artist!
• You don’t need to record any actual music! But of course you can if you are that way inclined (@ButterTart)

Voting

• Voting for the album chart will be by PM to me and will be anonymous (other than me knowing!). You just vote for who you think has run the best campaign!
• Album chart votes will be cast using Eurovision-style voting. Anyone can vote. There will be a penalty for non-voting artists

So it's based on a website I ran back in 2001 and is VERY EARLY 2000s. I used to dream up popstars all the time and make fake album tracklists for them, so I turned that into a website.

If you want to play, you promote your artist and then people vote on the campaign they liked best.

This could flop very badly but I thought I'd give it a go!

I also don't think it really needs to take up much of peoples' time and effort if that's putting people off!

I certainly intend to play this very, let's say, ROUGHLY.
