Final Prediction: Who Will Win?

If Trump removes the term limit, Obama becomes eligible for the presidency again.

Now that's a shit show I wouldn't mind watching.

A primary process would have given Harris the space to put more distance between herself and Biden, or for another candidate to prove to be the better choice.
you're very optimistic. Kamala would still be Biden's VP, she wouldn't be able to put any more space between herself and him than she did in her hundred days. we all know they would've bristled at the choice of nominating a black woman and given it to someone turgid.

Yes, I very publicly thought Harris was going to win comfortably.

THANKS FOR REMINDING ME.

...who might have won.

The counterfactual is essentially, could Josh Shapiro have won? Harris underperformed in the blue wall so MAYBE.

Let's congratulate the real winner here, @Jesse Birdsall for correctly predicting Trump would win comfortably.

Sarcastic Nancy Pelosi GIF by MOODMAN

The senate is an utter mess. But hopefully it’s a comfort to Harris that incumbent democratic senators are also losing in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Nevada - the people are the problem.

Kari Lake thankfully losing in Arizona, but watch me jinx that.

Winning the presidential election to avoid going to jail is brat, unfortunately.

As is getting your mate to buy Twitter so you can win. Don't like the result but I respect the hustle tbh.

What is stopping Harris from conceding, I wonder. Just get it over with.
Maybe wants a big audience if she's going to say more than just that she's lost. Presumably she'll want to deliver a message to those who are scared about what's going to happen.

2000 taught us not to concede until the network’s have called it. (And even then don’t be so quick).

Is the whole Trump is going to out a lot of celebs involved in the Diddy case etc a CROCK? I just had a friend on the phone telling me all this but this is just TIKTOK CLAPTRAP, no?

The ominous “stand by for CNN projection” is here…

Let's see what this means for Ukraine. I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to lop off the entire Eastern half.

I wouldn't be surprised if Zelensky is having serious conversations about if ceding Crimea is his least worst option, which is terrifying, because that just rewards Putin.

One relatively interesting anecdote, for all the talk of Texas trending blue (Trump has carried it by 14%), Illinois (+4% DEM), New Jersey (+5% Dem) and New York (+11% DEM) look to have been slept on in moving in the opposite direction.

You know I can remember after the Brexit vote friends abroad asking me how we "allowed" this to happen. Even today, nearly 6 years after leaving the UK for Iceland, when it occasionally comes up in conversation(and it does) I'm very quick to point out that over 16 million of us voted against this, and that I resent the "WE".

However(and I get this may sound hyprocrital, and I don't mean to rub salt in the wounds of our American posters who are no doubt having a SHIT day), but I really am struggling with how the US as a country has allowed this to happen again?? Like, enough people in the worlds most powerful economy are willing to vote for this abomination to make him leader, AGAIN.

Trump allowed people to be openly sexist and racist and we never turned back. There was no chance we were going to elect a Black Woman to run the country.

I'm surprised anyone is surprised. There was very little in terms of indicators that was giving KH much hope.
This. Absolutely this.
maybe the US just isn't ready for a woman president. so many men seem unable to vote for a woman.
And this. Firstly, after the last 6 months the Dems had, there was nobody who could have won this election. After the assassination attempt, this was a 100% done deal.

Secondly, and these are not my words, I'm just telling you how it is. The US isnt electing a female president. Not now, not if ever, for a long time. It isnt just simple sexism. What America was built on and for, its image, everything, forbids this. From their perspective, its almost embarrassing to have a woman in charge. But if it was going to happen, it was never going to be a middle class black woman to do it. Much less an empty vessel, word salading, question avoiding walking suit like her. If you dont believe this then you're living in a different world. Did you see how many black men and women who said "she isnt even black"? She barely took NY for christ sake.

Whatever anyone thinks of what happened last night, it isn't the least bit surprising.

I know people want to chalk up Kamala's whole loss solely on racist and sexist voters, but she and her party had become very unattractive to regular people.

I hope she doesn't run in 2028. The Democrats need to produce someone more experienced than her. I'm still holding out for Pritzker.

Yeah she won’t even try again. She will be doing speaking engagements and writing books like Clinton.

Not sure I agree with the idea that the US will never elect a woman. I strong suspect Haley would have also won last night.

Conventional wisdom (if that means anything) was that Trump was the only beatable Republican this cycle so that would track.

After the initial launch, there wasn’t much substance to engage or excite her supporters. Like Clinton, she ran a highly defensive campaign centered around 'I’m competent, and I’m not Trump'. As the Biden administration has already been rejected, she needed a distinct cause to make people turn out and vote for her.

Why are we shoehorning Janet into this? Has she not suffered enough?
