Why are we being defeatist? Everything is still consistent with at least a narrow to even moderate Biden victory. Trump essentially admitted defeat with that statement as well, if they were confident with their own polling and modeling I doubt he would have given that speech.
That’s true. His screams of FRAUD and Supreme Court may be because he knows his lost.

Fuck knows. I refuse to let my hopes get up. Probably won’t know for a few days at least anyway!

Arizona and Nebraska's second district flipping to the Dems are enough. Biden doesn't need Pennsylvania. He's on track to win Wisconsin and Michigan, and to hold Clinton's 2016 states.

I was wrong on a blowout though, tea!

Arizona is going Republican I think.

when I went to bed it was 75% counted and Biden was leading by 9%.
I’ve woken up and it is 82% counted and Biden is leading by 5%.
You’d expect that to change at a linear rate so by the time we get to 90%, I think Republicans will be leading there.
Maybe slightly later, but I’d be shocked if Democrats held on to that lead now.

which puts it down to the big 3 that everyone has been talking about: Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania. Without Pennsylvania, Biden would then lose.

finally... another trump card for Trump (snigger) is Nevada. That could very easily swing to Republican now too.

Having said that, I’ve not been watching - is Nevada a state where the later votes are the postal votes? If so then you can scrap my fear about Nevada at least.

I love this for you

@JonLemire: WASHINGTON (AP) — Joe Biden wins Arizona.

Can’t believe some of you bastard liars getting our hopes up! AGAIN!

Don’t look at me! I predicted exactly this.

God, what happened in Ohio? Biden was about 10% ahead when I went to bed.

This really looks even worse than I imagined it to be.

Woke up just in time for Trump’s speech. Is it me or did he, among the expected lies and hateful propaganda, still sounded quite defeated (for being him)?

I think Ohio, whilst called for Trump, will still tighten a bit in the final tally. It's just that it's mathematically impossible for Biden to overtake Trump anymore

Frankly Poison Pen just needs to be banned at this point. Remember when he convinced some of you Taxas was going blue? :eyes:
Tbf it is the closest it has ever been in Texas in like 2 generations.

Biden still needs to win 2 of the 3 big states and I just can’t see him doing it. Let’s just hope that the mail in ballots actually ARE 3 to 1 in favour of democrats. If so he has it in the bag.

Even if Biden wins now, without the Senate it's pretty hollow :(

That said, Sanders would have done much worse so fuck off.

sanders would have been absolutely destroyed. All that any Republican has said is ‘socialism’ ‘communism’ all night, whenever they’ve been interviewed. I forgot how obsessed they were somehow. Id kind of convinced myself that seeing as Biden ISN’T even really a socialist that the Republicans would also be aware of this, but clearly not...

It's weird how the Democrat strategy of trying to appeal to moderate Republicans while alienating the left and non-voters totally failed in 2016 and doesn't seem to have done gangbusters this time either! I guess a lot of Republicans will always just vote for the Republican candidate. I wonder if they'll learn anything from this, or try the exact same thing next time?

Farage on the BBC admitting there is no evidence of fraud in postal voting but in the same sentence saying “we know postal voting is at risk of intimidation”. I have NO idea what the fuck he’s talking about :manson:

Seriously, can you not? The last thing any of us needs to hear right now is smugness from the leftier than thou wing.

Look at the numbers. I never held up Biden as a dream candidate, but Trump's single biggest victory was convincing working class + Latin America that the Democrats = Socialist anarchy. There is absolutely no way a Sanders ticket would have performed better on that metric.

Oh come on. Clearly my comment on Sanders was a JOKE :D

Sanders may not have done any better but he certainly has called it WORD FOR WORD.

Am I just totally misreading this or are things nowhere near as bad as people on here are making them out to be?
They're really not bad at all, votes wise. The US is fucked of course, but the votes are broadly still what we expected before polls closed as the most likely scenario

More people than almost anytime before have voted and about half of them, despite everything, still wanted to keep Trump in office. Cancel this fucking horror show.

Yeah, Biden just held Maine (and it’s FOUR EC votes :D), and it seems reasonably positive for Biden in several remaining states - depending on the outcomes of the illusive MAIL IN BALLOT?

Sorry VoR but I think he absolutely would have won handily. He's a charismatic politician who would've inspired people to get out and vote in a way Biden just didn't. A campaign focused on universal healthcare would have really resonated with people - not just becaise of the pandemic but because it would have actually OFFERED PEOPLE SOMETHING TANGIBLE, which is what I've been saying all along. But whatever - the party were given two chances at getting off this ride to hell, and both times they said no.

It was never about Biden being not left enough. It's more than he has one foot in the grave, and can barely make it through a speech, without you exhaling a sigh of relief that he didn't DIE halfway through. Even if he makes it through on the "he's not Trump" vote, this should never be used as a best practice approach to winning an election.

Well I'm sorry but you're delusional. Turnout was not the problem with this election.
