Has anyone else noticed the increase in bot activity on social media in the past couple of days? Or has it been that way a while and I’m only noticing because I’ve been on there more with the election

every famous and even semi famous person posting about the election has ridiculous comment feeds from questionable profiles spewing the same old shit

surely social media would want to do more to tackle this? If it becomes the norm it’s going to put a lot of people off

I’m already over it but then I have less patience than most people for it I guess
Oh it's been like that for ages, but whoever controls these networks has probably ramped them up a bit recently. I don't think Twitter will ever do anything to properly tackle it because even fake activity is still activity, which makes them look more popular as a platform and helps bring in ad revenue :(

Who doesn't like a citrus crumb :disco:

"That's Citrus Crumb for you in session...two more from them before the end of the programme...and this is the new single from The Fall"

Nothing like tasting gran on your chicken wings

They’ve been about for fucking ages unfortunately. “@PercyPig27273628284638 The voting IS so confusing these days”

For all the talks of algorithms BIG TECH uses it’s funny they haven’t found one that stops bots just continually appearing.

She's getting dragged for that Tweet, but I don't see how it's such a terrible approach. We're never going to get anywhere if we don't cross the aisle from time to time.

I’m assuming Republicans find it patronising?

SHE ALSO RELEASED A SONG CALLED UR SO GAY

No, I've seen some liberal twitter folks who clearly think we should just cut all our conservative relatives out of our lives rather than attempt to engage in a dialogue with them.

Reaching out to your relatives etc is one thing and I think that's a personal choice everyone has to make, but I do wonder if a lot of Trump supporters would be making posts like this if their candidate had won?

I wouldn’t respond well to a Brexiter saying that “they are here for me”.
NIGEL FARAGE ON CYCLISTS:

Not for cyclists the restrictions of lockdown, such as the suggested limit of one-hour exercise per day in place for the early months. Rules simply don't apply.

Few are women. Most seem to be middle-aged men with paunches and beards. And I can tell from their looks of shock when they see me walking along the lane that the vast majority are Remainers.

Perhaps this helps to explain my prejudice: I simply don't like them and wish they weren't here.

Perhaps not, but we have to take the higher road if we're not going to just continue to engage in a horribly toxic culture war.

It's also worth remembering that of the 70 million people who voted for Trump, only about 1% will be loudmouth Twitter trolls. Most are ordinary human beings living their lives. I have relatives who voted for Brexit, probably voted Tory etc. It frustrates the hell out of me, but they're not monstrous people.

This is now the biggest EVER topic in this forum (aside from Coronavirus, now in it's own forum).

Katy Perry's parents are very extreme evangelicals (iirc she wasn't allowed to listen to the radio growing up because of SATANISM). I can well imagine her perspective is totally alien to a lot of people who've grown up surrounded by people with familiar values, but I don't think there's anything wrong with the sentiment of her tweet (other than being CRINGE of course).

I didn't mean to imply they were, and I don't disagree - I think people should reach out to each other more. Talking to your family and colleagues with different viewpoints is admirable and I support it, but I also think there has to be more than that - because as it is it's flattening politics down to individual choices rather than something more structural. I think that most people who voted for Trump did so because the material condition of their lives has steadily got worse for years/decades. Until that can be addressed on a large scale, people are going to continue to be susceptible to each new Trump/Boris/whoever figure that comes along with an easy scapegoat to pin their problems on, because in most cases they aren't being offered much of substance by the alternative option. I honestly do have my fingers crossed that a Biden presidency will buck the trend and I thought his speech last night was very inspiring, but I also remember that Barack Obama gave a pretty similar speech in 2008 followed by eight years of austerity.

When you have a HARDCORE TORY like Anneka Rice coming for Trump like this, you REALLY know it's all over :D

Is she confirmed Tory?!? I was pretty sure she was one of those 'send my kids to private school but I'm a Labour voter' people.

I had the great honour of taking Ms Rice around Oxford University while she filmed a short documentary about my school in the aftermath of Grenfell.

BEST DAY EVER.

Evidence here in the edited version. There's a 15 minute version somewhere, I don't know where.

Complete with CWOJ appearance at the 30 second mark.

Fox News just interrupted a White House press briefing because of all the lies.
