It’s so annoying that she gives so little fucks about her legacy- there’s already a decent Ray of Light box set with what we already know about.

1. Album proper
2. Remix edits (Veronica Electronica)
3. Demos
4. Rare/ Unreleased era-songs

And then full remixes if you want to go the whole hog. Even era-live performances.

My thought on GGG (which I really like) is that although it has something of a Ray of Light vibe, I can actually see it fitting even more in the Bedtime Stories era. I can't put my finger on why exactly, maybe something in the production?

Interestingly it kind of makes some sense as she worked with Rick Nowels (who she wrote this with) whilst working with Babyface, who obviously handled some of the Bedtime Stories stuff, in sessions that were ultimately abandoned, so there probably still was an RnB/ BS influence going on. I still think it's more RoL, though, with the clattering percussion etc.

Ooh thank you, that's interesting!

And I don't know these two songs so I'm listening now. Her voice is gorgeous but I'm glad she took a different route in the end...
 
I’m enjoying Gone Gone Gone @Suedehead, thanks for drawing my attention to it. I really love it when she’s in these type of creative headspaces.

I always assumed she recorded an album’s worth or so of material and there wouldn’t be much surplus so it’s interesting to see these demos and unreleased tracks. However, she should put everything out on expanded editions. What’s the point of having a (largely) ageing gay fan base if you don’t fleece them at every opportunity?

The other leaks earlier in the thread are much better.

She rightly felt the Babyface stuff was just rehashing Take a Bow and not reaping the right rewards. He’s even admitted as such.

Her lack of bothering with bsides always made her feel fairly frugal but there’s more out there than we know for sure.

2. Gone Gone Gone
3. Revenge

Of the three that leaked back in the day.

Remember when some European radio stations started believing Revenge was a new single and it picked up a little bit of airplay? Was that around the time of American Life?

Yes, but no- the airplay “mistake” came later. So I can’t remember if it was AL or something else.

Actually, I have faint memories of it being mistaken as the Bond theme.
