Veronica Electronica Release (Digital/Vinyl)

In fact it's remarkable that it's even Sharting on the mainstream album top 30 considering it's not in the top 100 streaming chart

It's not remarkable in the slightest. It happens frequently. The number one album this week isn't in the top 100 on streaming, either.

God, the album chart is fucked. This amalgamation of streaming and sales has left the overall chart rendered pretty meaningless.

You're far better off just deciding if you consider streams or sales more important and following those individual charts instead.

To that end

Veronica Electronica

#3 Official Vinyl Album Chart
#3 Official Album Downloads Chart
#5 Official Album Sales Chart

#23 Official Album Chart

To be fair, it’s really not bad for a (one format?) vinyl only physical release of old material.

It's 4,317 total sales. I imagine the vast majority of that is the vinyl. Annoyingly I can't find a breakdown.

The K's at #1 had 25,032 total sales units: 12,512 CDs, 10,103 vinyl, 430 cassettes, 1080 digital downloads and 907 sales equivalent streams.

From what I can see, they had 9 different CD variants (at a fiver each - cheaper in bundles) and 5 different vinyls, in a bewildering array of bundles, some formats seemingly only available in bundles.

I suppose they are playing the game and winning in terms of the chart this week, but there can't be any money in it, can there? It must be all speculative.

I think it's really impressive to be #1 on sales. Let's face it, the official album chart is pretty meaningless these days - I mean, how many of those people are listening to ABBA's Gold or The Essential Michael Jackson all the way through ?

oh wow I had no idea
I thought the album chart mirrored the singles one
Anyway the charts are so confusing these days etc etc

So would the 'announcement' of the clear vinyl and CD formats (to be shipped at a later date) triggering pre-orders have been designed to soften the drop in week 2?
Or are those sales going to be counted the week of the pre-order release? Which will probs result in a tiny shart re-entry? I'm confused (again)

Those pre-order sales don't count until they are shipped.

I don't think any thought would be given to softening the week 2 drop, because nobody really cared about the week 1 position in the first place.
