Morning loves!

I have a mild hangover after a bit too much wine, an aching arm after my Covid and flu jabs and I’m about to neck a couple of Zapain just for the “pain”. And the nice fuzzy high.

We had the jabs yesterday and they really hurt. Drinking tea in the kitchen waiting for an electrician to come round and do something or other I'm not remotely interested in. 40 mins late presently.

By my computer, awaiting the postie, eating cold pizza and listening to The Fall. Classic Saturday morning vibe.

The flu jab is more of a hard hit in the arm, covid has crept up.

I don't feel like shit though.

My arm is killing me already. Just hope I don’t feel crook later.

I had to argue with the surgery again though as they tried to fob me off with just flu- for some reason, because my cancer isn’t on the list (because it’s so rare) of what needs protection from Covid and every time I have to explain and moan about it, even though it’s immune system related, recurrent and both the GP and my consultant have said MULTIPLE TIMES that I have to have it.

I don’t know why it’s so GUARDED? It’s not like I want one for FUN!

Is it possible to get a letter from your gp/consultant to this effect? Then you can just whip that out as needed.

It’s supposed to be on the system. I had a letter from the consultant to force the GP in the first place. I was always registered as my Mum’s carer so got them that way. When that stopped, it was a fucking nightmare to get them to give me one. I kept getting fobbed off by reception or triage nurses who said “your cancer isn’t in the list, so you don’t qualify”. YES, I know, but the cancer usually goes with HIV, which I don’t have but is on the list and is likely caused by an immune problem. “Sorry, but you don’t have HIV.” I KNOW! It took about two months until I booked an appointment with the doctor about something else, waited for ages for the appointment and finally got in to see my GP, who was incredulous I’d been through all this. I’ve now got a note on my file that says “must be seen within 24 hours”. It’s INSANE how ringfenced it is now. I genuinely can’t imagine why. It’s not like I’m inventing stuff.

They’ve promised I’ve been “recoded” but it seems to happen QUITE A LOT. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Woke up feeling like someone had taken a cheese grater to my sinuses in the night, but a couple of sinutab and a shitload of coffee later and the edge has been taken off.

After seeing Luke Jerram's Mars: War and Peace in Gloucester Cathedral yesterday, we're off to see his Fallen Moon in Bridgwater Docks today. And his Our Home Planet is in Bristol Cathedral for a few weeks as well, so may see that tomorrow to complete the local set.

I woke up at 4.30am this morning.

I also went to bed at 8.30pm.

👴

I've been offered the flu/covid/both jabs three times in the last couple of weeks, because I've been working places where they have been running clinics and they happen to have some left at the end of the session. I've not had it yet.

I have been in reception quite a few times and heard care navigators umpteen times telling people 'you don't meet the new criteria'.

I get that they can't offer it to everyone and I can see why it's being rejected for a lot of people who just want one, it's just the nonsense you have to go through when you CLEARLY ACTUALLY NEED IT.

It's the 'recoding'. It probably isn't sophisticated enough to record your condition. And they are no doubt just told to turn down anyone who doesn't have the correct code.

I woke up at 6 thinking about margins on a project we're working on, couldn't get back to sleep so got up and busted out a spreadsheet.

Rock n roll.

Ah- thank you for that explanation. That actually makes sense this time around I guess…

It’s just not the first time it’s happened, so it’s irksome and I fought so hard through bureaucratic nonsense that I’m sensitive about it I guess.

I love the rare occasions my motivation goes through the roof like that.

I imagine when the criteria for everyone changed, you got booted out again, because the coding would boot out everyone who didn't meet the new conditions. And that probably included everyone who came in under an exclusion as you did - or at least your exclusion would need to be reconsidered.

It must be frustrating, but I suspect that it works well in the vast majority of cases. But equally that there will be a small cohort denied it who are entitled.

Postie's been. Bronski Beat reissue is a thing of beauty.

Anyway, sun's out, might as well get dressed and leave the house.

Weather's shite, electrician is late so I can't make my lunch.

But I have an absolutely banging 80s x10s playlist on. Remarkably cohesive decades.

When I had my stomach operation, I had soluble cocodamol. Now that was EVEN FUCKING BETTER!

Its something insanely exciting if it comes off, so I knew once my brain was whirring it was either lay there turning numbers around or get up and spreadsheet. 💪

Its sunny and warm up here, ive got all the windows and doors deep cleaning the house because we’ve got mates over tonight so it needs to be spotless so we can make a mess of it all 🤷‍♀️

It's lovely here too, but there is a massive storm tomorrow- they've just cancelled the Great South Run.

I'm OVERJOYED! Means I won't get annoyed with the noise and can actually move the car and have a lovely, normal Sunday!

The electrician is full of football banter and 80s nostalgia. Don't get me wrong I'm more than capable of keeping up, but I can't be bothered and WANT MY LUNCH.

AREN'T THEY JUST!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. There's NO BETTER NIGHT IN than Champagne, Cocaine and Zapain :disco:
I'm becoming allergic to it now so those hugs are a very rare treat for me, unfortunately I have to be in excruciating pain to chance it nowadays. :(
