WEDNESDAY does not give Meta permission to use its personal details

Why is it, just because I have my own shop, people who previously haven't given me the time of day, now want favours from me?

Can we donate fudge to a charity event they're running, can we use their alcohol in our fudge.

These are literally people I've not spoken to in years.

So no, my hard work and dedication to my business will not be helping you out. I'll help out people who have believed in me for years.

My ear hair has gone insane over the past two years :( I have to pluck some every week, very annoying.
I also don't understand why I'm hairy all over (chest, back, shoulders...), yet my beard is still patchy at my age.

I have a mildly hairy back. I used to wax it but FUCK THAT nowadays.

As an employer, it's a stupidly difficult line to walk. A previous company I worked for had an old school policy which gave up to six months (!) leave on full pay for sickness. Someone then abused it (literally got doctor's notes for mental health for six months and came back to work six months and one day later) and so it was withdrawn.

The last company I worked for was appallingly the opposite and I did everything I could to change it- particularly after my Dad died and they told me they were very sorry but would see me on Wednesday- so basically two working days off later!

I have an official policy of a week's sick leave fully paid a year but fully intend to not hold people to that, but equally, the line needs to be drawn to avoid people abusing it. I don't think (m)any would, but there's always that CUNT.
 
We have a two week sick pay policy at the shop. Two of our old employees took the piss with it.

But our current lady, who has been there since day 1, is brilliant. She's diabetic and does sometimes need time off if she's had a hypo over night, but she never asks for sick pay, she just switches her day and works a different one.

Although, obviously if she was off all week we would pay her.

Sick pay is hard when you're a small business tho. If one of us got signed off for several weeks, I don't know how we'd cope.
 
I'm still on a six month full sick pay contract, but I know for a few years now contracts have been different. But then I'm also paid about 25-30% more than new staff are (and at present and for the last 10 years or so they will never be able to progress to my salary) and my pro rata is based on two hours fewer per week, which doesn't sound much, but effectively means I get paid another 5% more.

But still these youngsters with their avocados and Netflix, eh?

Not to piss on your chips but grid is exactly what it is called by Meta. They're just using the correct term 🤷‍♀️

The charity one is hard to contest, you could agree to donate it in return for sponsorship of the charity event.

If someone wants you to use their alcohol in your fudge, agree if they give it you for free in return for the free advertising you're giving them.

Then you're getting something. Thats BIZNIZ.

Pretty much anyone who asks us for editorial space pays in some way. I understand people starting out could do with a leg up, but there has to be something in it for us. Unless I really REALLY like you.

We donate to SO MANY charities. We've had to start saying no and just donating to our chosen ones. Last year alone we donated about 20 boxes, that's £200 we could have sold them for. Plus vouchers.

I have no interest in donating to a primary school somewhere on the island. I don't have kids. So we donate to ones that mean something to us.

Meh, we already work with Mermaid Gin and Isle of Wight distillery. They're super famous so we will stick with them.

Although, I probably wouldn't turn down free alcohol.

Right, but you pay for their products I assume?

Getting someone to supply you with a free expensive ingredient to use slashes your COGS. We've just been given £1500s worth of stock for some advertorial content that will take less than 5 hours in total to produce, so every unit we sell is 100% profit.
 
Apart from anything else, I imagine the people you do work with may get pissed off if you then started working with lots of other suppliers as well. I'd totally carry on with the famous brands if it's working well for you.

Interesting. I hadn't thought about it like that. I just saw it as they wanted a favour after not talking to me for years. But I could also benefit 🤔

This was our main concern. We've been asked by a few gin companies to work with them, but we don't want to piss of Mermaid who have been good to us, and we get a huge amount of sales by using their name.

Well that's going on the CV. I was only thinking the other day how I didn't have any recent accomplishments.
 
Got myself some steroids and antibiotics and a bonus inhaler that doesn't count towards my rations. The nurse told me that if Mr F had rung 999 the paramedics would have just put me on a nebuliser which is the same as ten puffs on my inhaler, same for A&E. She said only ring 999 when lips and fingernails are turning blue.
